Todays banner is a fairly modern photgraph most likely shot in the 70,s timeframe after the completion of the DO-335 restoration, that aircraft now resides at the Steven F Udvar-Hazy annex of the National Air and Space Museum.

Oh,

I'm very disappointed. Really thought that the Dornier engineers found some of those high tech Agfa Gevaert color negatives and took the picture at the end of the war with one of the prototypes of the 335. What a pitty, I think that nobody in Germany at those days had the time to do anything by pleasure.

The National Air Space Museus you refer is the Smithsonian's one in DC?

Pablo,

Actually, it is at the annex located at Dulles International Airport. It was not there for the opening in 2003 but was transported at a later date, Prior to that it was stored at the Paul E. Garber Facility in Suitland, Md and before that at the Museum in Germany. The National Air and Space Museum has done quite a few restoration loans with various German Museums. The Horton Glider restorations were also performed in Germany though the DO-335 was there for over a ten year period, I dont know what the length of the loan was for the Hortons. Don,t be disappointed, It is never the less an interesting photo but the give away is the dress. I am not sure but the Gentleman in the gray leather flight jacket may be Gunther Rall as he had a close relationship with both museums. During my tenure there Rall Steinhoff and Kuprinski made numerous visits and gave numerous lectures. Hans von Ohain held the Lindbergh Chair while I was there in the 70,s  to the 2006 retirement.

Cheers
