Todays banner is a fairly modern photgraph most likely shot in the 70,s timeframe after the completion of the DO-335 restoration, that aircraft now resides at the Steven F Udvar-Hazy annex of the National Air and Space Museum.

I still saw this plane in Munich in the 1990s.

Supposedly the Dornier Engineers restored it to flyable capacity (the engines did work for sure) but no one wanted to risk a flight in a unique airplane that wasn't too reliable even in 1945.

The DO-335 returned to the states in the late 90,s. I never sae ant evidence that the powerplants had been run. I believe that the original loan agreement was for ten years upon completion of the restoration but turned out to be longer than ten years that it stayed in Germany.

Ok, I'll admit that my aircraft ID skills aren't that sharp.  But...

Is that a Focke Wulf with American colors?

It looks great in those (postwar I guess) colours. Really unusual pic.

I believe this Focke-Wulf Fw190A-4Trop was captured at Gerbini, Sicily 1943, repainted and flown as hack by 85th Fighter Squadron, 79th Fighter Group USAAF (and 404th FG too) at wartime.

I should have had these when I did the Skin, only had 2 pictures of it.
Interesting to see it had 2 different Tailmarkings applied, one with and without stripes...

The second one down looks as if it was shot in an simulation environment, the background almost resembles texture tiles.
