Does anyone have more information about this image (the Japanese naval biplane with the group of aviators and two ladies by the beach)? Where and when was this picture taken? Who are the people in it? Just curious.
Thanks,
FW

This is my favorite Japanese Seaplane. The "Pete" was a Mitsubishi F1M and one of the most manuverable seaplanes made. It fought some dogfights but there is little other info. Here is some Wiki=
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_F1M
and here is some iformation on the Pete.

The photo could have been anywhere in the Pacific during the war. I find interesting the men in flight gear. They wear that funny looking life preserver. Cool Pic!

Here's a possible source:
If the accompanying text is correct, then this is a picture of an F1M (Allied code name 'Pete') at an atoll about 300 miles SE of Truk Islands, possibly from 902nd kokutai (not sure). Time frame is around July 1943.
