indeed, it is a jet-powered flying boat, one of 3 prototype Saunders Roe SR A1's that were tested in 1944. only one of this type ever produced, afaik.

I'm a fan of flying boats, and I definitely had a WTF moment when I saw this banner picture!
I immediately had to right-click it and check it out via google. Very cool plane if you want my opinion, although man oh man, she must have been a pain on landings!
