"Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VB, AR451, PK-U, 315 (Polish) Squadron, escorting Gen. Sosnkowski's Lockheed 12A after his visit to Ballyhalbert, August 14, 1943"

looks like 315 used MkV's later than I thought

MkVs were still being used (though I have no info as to with what engine or upgrades) into 1945. I have (access to) a listing of aircraft flown by RAF 2nd Tactical Airforce on the continent which includes MkV Spits in a few (Tactical Recon - if memory serves) Sqnds.

This particular Spitfire Vb is a Westland built one equipped with a Merlin 45 engine.
It's been in service for many squadrons, chronologically:
No.19 Sqn RAF (??/10/41 - ??, ??)
No.66 Sqn RAF
No.118 Sqn RAF
No.350 Sqn RAF (23/09/42 - 04/12/42, MN-L)
No.315 Sqn RAF (??/12/42 - ??, PK-U)
No.303 Sqn RAF

Unfortunately not that much information is available about the service, sorties, pilots etc. of this aircraft.

Best regards - Mike

I looked at Asisbiz for 315 Sq. PK-U, but he only has PK-H, -J, and -K, for CoD only.  http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Spitfire/MkII-RAF-315Sqn-PK.html
