years ago, i made a very (to me) cool mission, called 'the Corridor' wher i take a low-flying plane at high speed, trying to make it back to friendly lines over a heavily flak-infested area, while being chased by two enemy planes. it was about 50/50 whether i made it to the other side...of course, flying as low as possible is the key, if you gain too much altitude, the flak would tear me to pieces.
i am in the process of altering this mission to use a few of these flak objects instead, as opposed to the several dozen previously - i'll post with my results here when i've flown it a few times, for comparison... ;)

The 88's have a lateral range of 5000m, so if you stick one in the middle of a map square you'll cover most of it. I like to stick them in the middle of towns and cities; they usually have enough range to hit a/c flying overhead.

Hi mates!

Historically the heavy Flak work on two different concept in different area:

1) In no target area but in enemy planes path the aim is finalized to disrupt enemy formation and allow friendly fighter to catch with easy scattered plane;

2) In target area by sending all the rounds in a box over the target to hamper enemy planes a correct aiming.

All the best!

Yes this flak is still aimed at the planes, it's just a terrible shot ;)

Box barrages would be cool but I'm not sure how you could simulate them without altering the artillery code directly...

What about realizing a limited bearing guns?

Then you can point them to a box area from outside to inside....
