I think the russian mod S199 uses the DiFF fm mod, which you will need to put in your mods folder also. I am putting out a version sometime of it that uses SAS buttons. But for now, find the DiFF FM mod here, and put it in mods folder, that should take care of it. https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3988.0.html

I recently posted about enabling the "Mods" folder through JSGME to add new aircraft (see link below).

It works and would appreciate comments from the chaps who know a heck of a lot more about the workings of it all.

Perhaps one of you could comment on the advisability of enabling a Mods folder in this way?

No problems found so far and new aircraft, buttons etc. are loading fine with the ability to have a clean on-line UP201 by just removing the mod from the JSGME.

Ok, here we go.  New Installs, New Problems LOL.  I have now UP 2.0 on my PC.  There is still no MODS folder in the IL2 directory.  How do I install new planes?  After all this is the reason I got UP in the first place.

Went home and DL'd Modact for 2.01 from above link (thanksCirX).  Unziped aircraft into MODS folder, put in lines in air.ini, Flew new aircraft.  It was that easy.
Only thing is I am having a 50% more or less success rate.  I imagine this is because some of the aircraft need to be updated...  I dont know.
The S-199, J7W1 and the Skyraiders were all a go.  The new Mig-17 was too and it looks the nuts.  Oh shit, I just realized that I am going to be roaming Thud Ridge in my Mig tonight.  Skyraiders Beware!
The Helicopters (HRS3 & H19D) were a no go.(So Much for your rescue team skyraiders:).  As soon as I put thier info in the air.ini the game crashes at 60%. (Same goes for the Ki44 Tojo).  So I remove the HRS3, H19D and Ki-44 and the game runs as normal.  Of course I do these one at a time.  I read the readme files and follow them to the letter.
To say I am happy with what I have now is the understatement of the year.  I am over the moon.  I am adding aircraft and generally having a great time.  Soon as I figure out these small details I will be set.

Thanks again for your support and patience.

CirX I did not.  However last night I downloaded the new buttons.  Everything now works fine.  I got Migs, Choppers and the Tojo(Ki-44).  The sim is now better than ever.  The aircraft that I have been waiting for are finally in my hands.
I got my first taste of the chopper last night.  It was quite a humbling experience.  I then went and blasted some Imperialist Skyraiders from the sky.
Between getting sorted and creating skin folders ect. It got to be 1am and I had to work today.  Off tommorow and just cant wait to fly tonight.

  Thanks for your great support.

Sir:

I have followed instructions on installing new aircraft. I have run into several problems. 1) I can find the MODS folder, but the only files containded are MAPMOD
and STD. no file called IL2 Sturmovik 1946/MODS/TheNewPlaneFolder/3do. 2) the hashed classified that come with the file download where are those installed? I did down load and install the lasted modactivator 2.72 and the latest buttons 8.21. My current copy of IL2 is 4.101 and is working after the installs of Modactivator and Buttons
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx Darrell

If you have the Modactivator, then you have the STD folder too inside that MODS folder. ;D

the whole sentence reads :
Quote
You can name the folder that the mod is in anything you want. All that is important, is that you place it in your MODS folder at the right depth. It must be …IL2 Sturmovik 1946/MODS/TheNewPlaneFolder/3do

So, "thenewplanefolder" is whatever you want to call the folder your plane is in. That hierarchy is just to illustrate at what depth the mod must be installed.

So...in your mods folder, you place your plane's folder, so that, if you open up the plane's folder, you immediately see the "3do" folder.

Because...if you install the planes folder into another folder, and put THAT in your MODS folder, the game wont see it.

In the plane's folder (which you can name anything you like) you will find the 3do folder, and next to it, those hashed classfiles. They should stay right there.
