Make sure that the air.ini is being saved.
Check for a second air.ini with a simple file search.
Do not use JSGME, it just complicates things.
Do not add any buttons file, what the modact has works for all planes in my experience.

I'm missing the plane_ru and weapons_ru files. I have several files following the "plane_XX" naming scheme, same with the weapons files. But "ru" isn't one of the options.

This is (most likely) because those files differ between game versions. In many older versions, you'll need to change "plane_ru", but in other versions, it'll just be called "plane". The same goes for the "weapons_XX" file.

The two files are called "plane.properties" and "weapons.properties". You will need to use the plane_ru or weapons_ru only if you are using old modpacks such as UP2 or DBW.
