Some exotic plane : EKW C-3603
« on: February 10, 2011, 03:50:08 AM »

Hi all !

I am not really used to do requests... but here is a plane I like. Looks like a mix of MS406, IL-2, Bf110 and P-40 for the undercarriage : the EKW C-3603.

Some infos about the animal :

CREW 2
ENGINE 1 x Hawker Siddeley pistone engine, 735kW
 WEIGHTS
    Take-off weight 3590 kg 7915 lb
Empty weight 2315 kg 5104 lb
 DIMENSIONS
    Wingspan 13.7 m 45 ft 11 in
    Length 10.2 m 33 ft 6 in
    Height 4.1 m 13 ft 5 in
    Wing area 28.7 m2 308.92 sq ft
 PERFORMANCE
    Max. speed 477 km/h 296 mph
    Cruise speed 430 km/h 267 mph
    Ceiling 10000 m 32800 ft
    Range w/max.fuel 680 km 423 miles
 ARMAMENT 1 x 20mm cannon, 4 x 7.5mm machine-guns, 400kg of bombs

This machine entered in service during WW2, and, reequiped with a turboprop, was used as target-towing plane until the '80s...

It would be useful for the Alpen maps by ZippZap, where Switzerland takes large part. I wonder if it would be possible to make a scenario where Swiss planes defend their territory against both allies and Luftwaffe, lol .

Never knew about this plane, very cool. On that modern photo, is that a still flying example?

Looks a bit like a Fairey Battle and a Bf110 mixed together

Yes, Fusek ! Some are still flying !

And the Swiss Air Force stuill used them during the 1980s, but in an ugly turboprop "Long-Nose" version for target towing ! I do not put photo of this version, because I find it really too ugly ! but if you search on Google, you will find a lot. It was the C-3605, if my memory is correct.

Uzin... such a scenario is possible, as, in the Forgotten Countries mod, we have Switzerland (in red), and we have Germany (blue), reverted USA and GB (both in blue).

There is a third possibility, using the NoNe squadron (white) in which the 3 colours (white, blue and red) will fight. But if you fly White (neutral) and dhoot down a red AND a blue plane, the game will crash at the end of the mission. This has to be edited manually, as it is not possible to do in FMB.

Wonderful, Gaston !
I have thought about this when making the QMB missions on that map, but not yet done it. Are there any guides as to what manual changes should be done to mission in order to avoid the crash of the game, please ?
The coming (hopefully) mod of Lutz  would be useful also, to make the Swiss airforce reacting to the enemy crossing the border. That seems to be marvellous . ;)

There is no possibility to avoid the crash of the game ! if the "white" player shoots down a red and a blue plane in the same mission, the game will crash in all cases when going out of the mission. Nothing to do (for the moment).

This is why, in the Forgotten Countries, we have Switzerland in red, and the reverted US and GB (in blue) country. This way, it is not necessary to use the "white" trick.

"White" unit has to be used, in my opinion, only for unarmed flights, so you do not risk to shoot red and blue enemies. I used this in a mission on my Spanish campaign, available at Combatace. Also, this trick has also been used by Poymando or Extreme One in another mission, long time ago, in the 2.04 era. I have not heard of other utilisations of it. Which does not mean that it has not been made !

Thanks, Gaston.
There are yet not harnessed possibilities in mission making, I see.
