3ds Max - Blueprint Manager Script
« on: February 16, 2011, 04:59:09 PM »

This isn't necessarily essential for mod making but can be of assistance to those setting up blueprints.

Basically it sets up the blueprints for you automatically so you don't have to create the planes yourself and then change materials etc...

This is the interface:

Just enter in all the details you want and hit create and here you go:

For those who want to know the details these are the settings for the Plane:
Renderable = False
Show Frozen In Gray = False
Backface Cull = True

Of course you may still have to move them around a little bit depending on your images that you have however this should save you some hassle. You will also probably have to scale the blueprints to get the correct size (ie. 1:1 real life size). If there are any problems with it please tell me and I'll try and fix it.

Have fun modelling!

Very convenient!  I wasted way too much time trying to get my blueprints to show up correctly when I was trying to learn 3dsMax!

Glad it helps :) I will probably update this release soon with a new version that gives you the option of having the blueprints the opposite way around at 50% opacity so you can see through it and model inside the box. This way your model doesn't cover the blueprint, the blueprint covers the model. I don't know how many people model like that but I've been watching a tutorial and I'm going to try modelling that way.

Here seems the origin of the script with some hints of usage:

Here are tutorials of creating the script by yourself
