Navigation Help
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:41:00 AM »

Navigation became a lot better with the new 4.10 features. Also CY6's navigator object (part his of Command_and_Control mod) helps alot.
Anyway, IL-2 is not MSFS, so particualrly in planes with very rudimentary nav instruments, it can still be a challenge, as triangulation is a big effort.

I made this small spreadsheet as a workaround. It provides you with what your navigator should be able to tell you IRL and works for maps of a size of up to quadrant BX-22 (but could be easily expanded).

Just put in your altitude, IAS, current position map grid and destination map grid. It will tell you:
Heading to fly, distance, and time to reach your destination square.

I know it's not great one has to leave the sim for this, but integrating something like it ingame is just way beyond my capabilities.
If you want to try it, please find it here:
