Navigation became a lot better with the new 4.10 features. Also CY6's navigator object (part his of Command_and_Control mod) helps alot.
Anyway, IL-2 is not MSFS, so particualrly in planes with very rudimentary nav instruments, it can still be a challenge, as triangulation is a big effort.
I made this small spreadsheet as a workaround. It provides you with what your navigator should be able to tell you IRL and works for maps of a size of up to quadrant BX-22 (but could be easily expanded).
Just put in your altitude, IAS, current position map grid and destination map grid. It will tell you:
Heading to fly, distance, and time to reach your destination square.
I know it's not great one has to leave the sim for this, but integrating something like it ingame is just way beyond my capabilities.
