Actually they are not in BAT yet.

To be precise:

IJNKagaCV41                  Yes, but just Shokaku repaint

IJNSoryuCV41                 Yes, but just Shokaku repaint

(This is my findings for BAT 3.5, please correct me if I'm wrong)

I'm really hoping to see the Kaga and the repainted Akagi incorporated into the next BAT release. The other CV's can wait

I am shocked i dont use BAT but i would have thought these would have been included - sorry this doesnt help your problem.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

the readme file contains wrong entries for the ini files;

I will post an example (of the chief.ini), you will get the idea and can adjust the ini files yourself later

instead of:
 IJNAkagiCV41          ships.ShipWes$IJNAkagiCV41         2 icons/shipDestroyer.mat
it should read:
 IJNAkagiCV41          ships.ShipWesJCV$IJNAkagiCV41         2 icons/shipDestroyer.mat

and later on (also in chief.ini)

instead of:
[Ships.IJNAkagiCV41]
 com.maddox.il2.objects.ships.ShipWes$IJNAkagiCV41
it should read:
[Ships.IJNAkagiCV41]
 com.maddox.il2.objects.ships.ShipWesJCV$IJNAkagiCV41

in stationary.ini instead of:
IJNAkagiCV41          ships.ShipWes$IJNAkagiCV41             2
it should read:
IJNAkagiCV41          ships.ShipWesJCV$IJNAkagiCV41             2

do this with all the other entries (adding "JCV" like I did) and you are done...

I checked with an old install CUP install of mine and found the mistake rather quickly (I could remember there was something)
alternatively, just check the classfiles of the CV pack, they call for ShipWesJCV instead of only ShipWes...

if questions remain, feel free to ask...

btw ships checked in a quick mission, they work....

But when I double checked the .ini files in the .zip file, I found that they already have the "JCV" line in the entries like you showed.

Did you download from the link on page 1 of this thread? 0.40b?
I just saw that there is a new set of ini files in the classifies zip..I did not use these but the ones that came with the 0.40b download and.modified these...they work for me that way...do not forget to add the classifies

and btw did you add this section to the ships.ini file?

I have it figured out 
I need to put the 3do files from the Beta40b zip file AND the class files from the 410_412 zip file in the SAME folder. Duh, how did I miss that
