« on: March 18, 2011, 08:46:49 PM »

I live in North America and the release date for CoD is April 26th... my birthday... but what if i bought the European download version? their release is coming sooner, it would still be in English wouldn't it be? UK version.

Usually, North American releases run under NTSC coding, where as, most of the rest of the world runs on PAL coding. Sometimes this is circumvented by people who more or less hack the code, but by the time they do it the game will probably be available everywhere. When my buddy lived in Austria for 2 years, he had to buy a new pc and xbox 360 just to play games over there!  :D

Plus, the game runs checks on Steam as well, so that option is all but out. So to answer your question. Be patient and wait a few extra days and save yourself a bunch of hassles and headaches.

NTSC or PAL coding is generally focused on console based games, not on PC.

Well, since it uses Steam, i read that if you have an American Account, and yes they know if you have one, You can get banned if you buy other region games. Don't ask why or where i got this from, i don't remember.

That is to prevent people from buying games in countries that are censoring the game.... meaning that if you buy Team Fortress 2 in Germany or Australia, instead of blood spewing out or bodyparts flying, you will have springs and oil spraying everywhere.
