Strange, I can load the map, and work on it but I can't save it???

If you can't save on it the map is using objects that you do not have installed.

Crete uses 4.09 objects and modded objects from LAL Rone hangar mod, plus Canon's BlankFieldPlate to smooth runways.

Check out Burns static image utility here:

http://www.allaircraftarcade.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16258&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=static+images&start=0

The main function of his utility is to provide an image of everything in your static.ini, but the collateral benefit is it provides a very easy to use text reference list of your static.ini making it very easy to see what is in a map's actors.static that is not included in your static.ini.

Regarding your second post - that looks like a memory error - did you close and restart the game? -viking

Viking, might i ask you for a favour? Could you, by any chance, include different version of Airfields friction mod with this excellent maps of yours? The problem being that if users don't have CTO mod installed, they will have problems landing on carriers... and you know users... don't investigate, just blame (just some, most are excellent :D).

You can find it over at UltraPack.

Just include the STD one... then they can complain about catapults not working, but at least no freezes :D

Hi ZUTI - just so I am clear - you want me to pack both versions of your mod in my download patch (redistribute it), or just update the instructions in my readmes? I'm on the case either way - cheers - viking

No no, just replace current one with STD version (stand alone). So it would work every time but CTO could be broken. At some point, users must start to read read me files... :>

I just flew your Crete map for the first time the other day, and I must say it is truly beautiful and (more important to me) it feels  unique ; all the textures you have used make you feel like you are flying in a particular place and in a particular time.
Magnifico!

(If you are looking for your next project, with due respect to asheshouse and his great France map, I have always yearned for a terrain accurate map centering on the Ardennes (in the west to Hollandfor the Scheldt campaign and the Rhineland Campaign, and to the east to the Ruhr -read Dambusters!-, not to mention ideal area for nightfighter vs RAF actions and 8th airforce incursions.)
I know it's rude to request, but man you sure created an atmosphere with the Cretan AO.

Those screenies really look good, I'm gonna have to download this one too!

What chance of a Fairey Fulmar at some stage I wonder?

Cool, Can't wait to make a new mission on that map. Actually there was some action on Crete, Just read an article about it.

Yeah there was, Luftwaffe kicked our butts from pillar to post!  :'(

Mind you the RAF wasn't exactly in a position to contest anything after trying to prop up Greece against the Germans and Italians. Miracle they could still put those clapped out Hurries and Fulmars into the sky.

On the ground the Brit/CW troops put up more of a scrap, enough to make old Goering cry into his soup at the loss of so many airborne troops and Ju-52's.  ;)

Thank you so much for this great map. I've been reading Cajus Bekker's "The Luftwaffe War Diaries: The German Air Force in World War II" about the Crete mission and watched some footage from the German paratroopers film "1942 - Kreta - Ein Heldenlied unserer Zeit" and have to say your map (and esp the textures) are very well done. What a great effort, thank you!

I was fortunate enough to visit Crete about 10 years ago; rented a car and traveled the coastal road (Irakleio till Chania) and through the hills towards Kantanos. Unfortunately I only had a few days to spend in "Kriti", but in that short time I became very impressed with the sheer beauty of the island, the rich culture and the warmth of the Cretan people.
Mind you, I went there off-season, but I know in summer some of my young Dutch compatriates flock en masse to Crete and don't always behave themselves very well.. I hope you understand that I - like most Dutch people - find this embarrassing and also very disrespectful towards the locals.

Anyway, it's great to be able to fly over the island (and its familiar places  :) )...
Thanks again for a great job on this map!
