Top Gun Skins
« on: April 10, 2011, 08:16:32 AM »

How are you guys?
Well, I've been thinking about building a camping based on the "Top Gun" Film story, and I need a couple of skins, so I'll left some profiles here.
I would be very glad if some one take this on :D
Here are the Profiles:

MiG-17AS as MiG-28

FJ-3 Fury as F-14 Tomcat
(I only want the colored one, is not necesary to make the low visibility camo ;) )

Thanks a lot guys

One question:

Did the Russians ever built an aircraft named Mig-28?  ::)

In the TOP Gun fighter School the Navy repainted T-5 trainers  to be the simulated Fighters for the USSR.  ;)

Dunno, but as per historical...  As far as I know, the OKB MiG (Mikoyan Gurevich Design Bureau) never had (late) production aircraft with even numbers.  Evidence: MiG 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31... No even numbers.  Of course, there was the Ye-152, MAPO MiG 142, etc, but these were test beds that never reached full production as such.

The F-5's performance is very close to that of the MiG-21 and hence it is used by the US in dissimilar combat training.

In the Soviet Air Force nomenclature (inherited by today's Russian AF) the odd numbers denote only fighter types, and even numbers bomber, reconnaissance and other roles. This is in regards to the official designation for types approved to be used in the Air Force, prototypes, experimental machines, testbeds and similar use internal designations given to them within the design bureau which might or might not follow the official nomenclature.

There are some inconsistencies - an attack/bomber type with a fighter designation number (or vice versa), but this would mean a change of role for the type that was originally ordered as a fighter but, after the initial series was delivered and introduced into limited service the decision was made to develop it for a different role.

So, because there are no MiG bombers (in the true sense of word) they all have odd-numbered names, and because there are no Tupolev fighters they are all even-numbered...
