Hi Cirx,

I noticed you've not added the placeholder for 'Luftwaffe' in your air.ini ? Is it ok to add it without messing anything up ?

yes, for sure.

I removed it because it was right at the top of the list.

for me personally, I just added the line

*              air.Placeholder

after the first flyable LW plane, or before, if I want to test a new plane.

you can just  copy any other country, like

*              air.Placeholder
********************BRITAIN              air.Placeholder
****************************************              air.Placeholder
*              air.Placeholder

and change the "BRITAIN" for any other one-word phraze. you can do this to subdivide any way you like. As long as you dont use two words with a space in between

Ok, I think I'm retarded or something, but the guide states to copy all 17 items into my IL-2 folder, but I only have 15 files/folders.  I'm crashing at 95%.  I installed over a fresh 4.101.  I do get the new switcher thing, but on anything I try to load, I get the same 95% crash, not even CTD, just stuck.

Appologies. the guide was updated from an earlier one. The Checking section was updated, with "15 items in total" in bold letters, as well as the list of the items was updated, and the screenshot of the 15 items was updated. it is just later on in the section where I forgot to change a part saying "copy all the 17 items in the modact".

I fixed that and I am uploading a whole new guide (1.7). My bad.

95% freeze is when the game tries to load a version it does not have. Like, if you try to load "classic mod game", but you dont actualy have a classic mod game installed, or "ultrpack 3", but you dont have ultrapack 3 installed. If you install modact 3 on a clean (working) 4.101, then the only versions you will be able to boot up past 95% are SAS Modact 3 and Stock game.

If you are launching modact 3, and getting a 95%, it is because your installation is not complete, to be precice, you are missing vital files from your XTD folder in your #SAS Folder. Or, possibly, you have introduced other files in your #SAS folder that are overwriting them (but this should not be a problem on a clean install). My gues is you are trying to launch "classic mod game".

Or, that your installation is in your program files folder, and windows is shagging you.

To get out of 95% freeze, ctrl+alt+delete, and kill the il2fb.exe process.

If none of this helps, then posting screenshots of your Main Game Folder contents(withthe adress visible), as well as a screenshot of your #SAS folder contents, and also of the XDT folder contents, may help illuminate the issue. A discription of the settings you are using on the selector may also help, as well as of your PC and OS.

Thanks CirX!!  I guess I just didn't quite grasp what was installed, stock 4.101 works, and SASModAct 3 works.  I'll finish re-reading the guide and get my HSFX working next.

Btw, beautiful splash screens!  Where can I find the file that has the blueprint drawing of the Me-262.  I think I'd like to make that the cover for my Flugbuch.  (I bind my own books, and that would be a perfect cover!)

OK---sorry for lack of clarity. So, I installed this patch last night, and followed all directions, etc. So, when the pop up said I had to copy my whole folder elsewhere to play, I copied it to my C drive--not program files or anything like that. So, when I launch game, skip the intro., etc., the screen freezes as soon as I get onto the main menu. The cursor freezes in the middle of that page, so I have to restart the computer. I don't know what I've done wrong, I installed everything as necessary, copied my game foler to my C drive, and yet, the game still fails to work. All it does is just freeze when the main menu comes up!  :o Any help, pointers; anything, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all of the hard work you all do,

Perhaps the game is not frozen, you are just not focused in windows on it, but focused on your desktop instead. you can always try pressing the Windows key, to bring focus to your taskbar, and once there, click on the il2-Sturmovik tab which is running, which will bring the game back up and focus it

I tried that but that didn't work, I just have no idea, is there a troubleshooter? I have no idea what's wrong with it... my life officially sucks.

so pressing the windows key does not bring up your desktop or start menu at all? pressing ctrl alt del does not bring up the windows task manager at all, you entire PC is frozen solid?

if so, then I am stumped. Hope when Storebror gets back from his trip he has an idea, or someone else does.

Anyone else have this total PC freeze up?

cartfather229, please reinstall your game from the scratch. You've messed up something, don't ask me what exactly.

If the intro plays and you're able to skip it, this means that the game basically runs and as much as the selector or any other part of the launcher code is concerned, all has been done correctly already.

A "hanging" game with non moving cursor occurs when something keeps the game from loading the main menu correctly. This happens for instance when selecting some modded game version without having the regarding mod folders in place (e.g. you are running Modact 3 but selected Classic Mod version).
In that case Windows 7 users can simply press Alt+F4 when the game window is in front, this should bring up the "close application" window, where you can press tab+return, selecting to cancel searching for some solution to this issue. If this doesn't help you can still press Ctrl+Alt+Del to get into the Task Manager, but the mouse might be blocked there. In that case you can just use the Tab key and the arrow keys to make your selections.

Anyway, there's no common cause for the game to get blocked completely, and the most promising solution instead of wasting days to search for the reason (which often times lays back months in the past), you should really consider reinstalling the game from the scratch into some proper location (in your case: Not the program files folder).
By the way... when you said you installed into C: folder, I hope you didn't mean that literally, i.e. your il2fb.exe is not in the root folder of drive C: hopefully.

Just an educated guess, but since you ran your IL-2 from the program files folder already before and we all know that it can't save it's files and settings successfully there, all your settings are likely inconsistent already. Another good reason to start from the scratch.

Best regards - Mike

I just dowloaded this new modact (and the latest buttons), but wehenever I want to start the SAS mod I get the loading screen for like 1 second, and then it quits to the desktop. No error message, nothing.

I've installed the modact over a clean 4.101 installation, and the stock game runs fine. Anyone know what might be causing this?
