Thanks to you amazing modders...
« on: April 18, 2011, 05:14:58 PM »

This is just my once in a while thank you to the modders here at SAS and elsewhere, who have made such a profound impact on this old flight sim that Oleg must be getting tired of trying to keep up.

Seriously, there are so many mods now that when first requested were answered with :

" Is not possible" , I really don't understand why the 1C team hasn't embraced the inclusion of outside expertise in a more direct manner. I understand protecting proprietary rights, but all that is likely to happen is that eventually the cycle will repeat with CoD.

I have so much enjoyment not only from flying IL2 but from just perusing SAS and reading the interesting ideas and info,
other people's takes on history, and hearing info that I can't find access to myself.

This would be good enough, but the mature spirit - not without a bit of fun, I must add - and the directed effort to work with other modding enterprises out there makes SAS the leader of the pack.

I always have a bit of a selfish oh no, when one of you guys who has added so much says "I must attend to real life for a while" and slips away. Not that I don't understand, it's just that every personality leaves its own mark let alone some great improvements in this sim.

Hopefully those who have taken that path will settle out and find their way back in time so that they can enjoy the fruits of their labours.

Anyhow, thanks to you all.
This is how I feel when  I hit the starter and here those amazing engines roar to life...

(PS beer and strippers to the first person to name this pilot)

Yes, many, many, MANY thanks to all modders (and site admins BTW) that has transformed a really good game into a GREAT game. The range and variety of content (aircraft, maps, effects etc) is simply AMAZING now. And it continues to come.

I don't want to take side-swipe at a specific game that has just hit the shelves, but I think it is modding that is keeping IL-2 alive and kicking. And that will be the case for years to come!

Again thanks for your excellent work!  ;D ;D ;D

I agree!  So much wonderful work done by the modders!  To make a game, that is quite old in computer game years, better and better the way they have is incredible!

It is really time to thank every lil Modder here for all their gifts. It takes our Sim to new frontiers (ultra hard WWII, the real 1946 ones, WWI, 1956, Axis  or Allied, Civil, Seaplane...improved graphical experiences), so Players can enjoy really depending on their personal favs, mix up Mods. It's like heaven here.
And not to forget I wanna Thank SAS~Anto and Me-109 for their friendliness to fulfill my Me 262 related Requests that fast. As well as those involved in the Background, the entire SAS staff, without their sources we wouldn't enjoy our addiction.
Thanks to all you busy Bees.

I agree.

A big DANKE SCHON to all of you surprising me every day with what can be modded in this game (seriously, is there anything left unmodable)?  :P

Hear hear. It's just amazing how this fairly old sim is still being played so much; all thanks to the original makers of course, but for a sim to be soaring this high, after all these years; it couldn't have been possible without the many fantastic additions, tweaks and mods.
My hat off to all those clever mod makers and a big thanks to this pleasant community which continuously keeps blowing new life in this awesome sim.

As a Noobie I just have to jump on this band wagon. I don't understand much if any of this but I do know I enjoy the fruits of so many people out there that I too have to say "THANK YOU" forso  much for so little in return. And though, I guess OLEG isn't with the project any more, I big thanks for his part in my new found love for SIm Flying.
