I flew IL2 since 2004. I got the IL2-1946 in July 2007. Played online on Skies of Fire for 4 months.

Found MrJolly and Daiichidoku. They helped me to get the game modded on November 7th, 2007. Visited AAA daily until it was taken over by some german dude.

I'm 61 now and I've been buying and flying flightsims ever since 1991 ... at the time I found that non-radar sims were quite awful really. All you'd do is fly around aimlessly looking for a moving pixel in the sky. So basically, even though going through an uncountable number radar flight sims, I always avoided the others, especially propeller plane sims or WWII sims.

However in 2007, I must have had some money to burn, cause I bought a discount edition of 1946 for 10 euros on impulse and have been hooked ever since. Il-2 is nothing at all like the early non-radar sims.

I'm 26 now, but it all started when I was 9 or 10.  I saw Microprose's B-17 Flying Fortress in a Wal-Mart.  Couldn't believe my eyes!  A game about my favorite plane!  My grandparents got it for me and I was obsessed.  Then came Aces over the Pacific, Aces over Europe, Red Baron, on and on through ' The Janes Era' :) and Il-2.

I stopped simming in 2004ish (during college), then discovered the modding community for IL-2 about 2009.  Again, couldn't believe my eyes!  The obsession rages again...

Good to see some young folk in here though.  Not that I'm saying the rest of you fellas are old!  ;)

I am 27, i started playing secret weapons of the luftwaffe on my dads computer as a kid for hours and hours.  I was also honing my flight sim skills at the time with microsoft fs4.  After my crazy teen age years a bought il-2 forgotten battles and then pacific fighters a short time later. Then recently i bought a gaming rig and found my copy of 1946 in a bargain bin at half price books for $6.99.  best $7.00 I have ever spent.

Hi All,

Never played any computer games much back in Australia except a bit of Doom now and then.

Moving to Thailand and upon marrying my girl I noticed Thai's loved computer games.

My wife played Sim City when we were newlyweds.

We moved to a South Thailand country area for a teaching position.

From too many dvd movies and sheer bordom I found IL-2 1946 in a game shop for 500 baht

Being a W.W.2,Korea and other conflicts of interest head I loved it from then on.

Took my a year really to learn how to fly (I had a lot of free time and was using a crappy genuis joystick.

I find that you still learn something new every day with this amazing flight sim.
