Well I'm in the market for some new tactical gear.
Ive been through the standard state-side stuff, Tactical tailor, Blackhawk, Spec-ops, and a few little specialty shops where Ive been stationed to make custom gear.
Iv just run across a brand I've never heard of called Arktis. Supposedly very popular in Europe.
So to my brother Infantrymen/service members around the world and this site have you heard of/used Arktis gear? how does it compare? durable? your thoughts...

Err, as far as I'm aware they're meant to do some fairly decent stuff. I've not heard people raving about them in the circles that i've walked (although no doubt there'll be people in a better position to comment), but neither have i heard people complaining about them and comments that i have heard tend to be positive.

I guess it also depends what you're looking for, too. Can you be more specific?

I just need some new carrying equipment. Something fairly tough that will hold up to regular training.
Need to be able to carry a variety of magazines, both M16 and AK47/74, frags, water source, map pocket, etc etc.
I really like the look of this Arktis gear, seems to be arranged perfectly at least to my taste. I'm just not sure of the quality of the stuff. Heavy duty nylon, double stitching, sturdy zippers/snaps etc.

Heh, as far as map pouches go, i favour the 'down the front of the smock' dump puch.. So long as my belt kit is done up tightly.... ¬_¬

As I said, I couldn't really say on quality though I understand it's ok - I can't really say much more as I don't know. Have you tried asking on military networks?

:D
I used to do that same thing, jam it down the front of my vest, until I about lost a map during a raid. that would have been bad...
Typically I have most of my gear as MOLLE attachments directly to my flak vest, but I'm looking to branch out. I'm a gear queer so I'm always looking for the next cool thing.
Well, in my military network, the US Army Infantry, no one has heard of it, that's why I asked here as there is a large international contingent here and I figure more than a few vets given the subject matter of the site.
I'm not familiar with any European military networks though.

A tactical corset perhaps...? XD http://tacticalcorsets.com/corsets

Like I said, I can't really give much more of a testimonial than I already have, though you might try somewhere like arrse.co.uk although stand by for some banter.
