Please edit ships.ini

IJNAkagi/Shokaku/Zuikaku need my MOD.

My first opinion is here.

After your tests and feedbacks, I will edit parameters again.

western0221:

I dl'd your mod but haven't done anything with it yet except to look at the changes you've proposed for my mod USNFleetCarriers.

For anyone about to use this be aware that using the entire text of this mod will reduce the speed back to the game's default of 30 knots (56km/h) from the adjusted, prototypical, speed of 33kts (61km/h).

The only lines that need changing in the ships.ini file are the three "strengthBasedOnThisSection " found as the third line in Part0; Part1; Part2.

With this mind though I'm looking forward to trying this out.

Not only Part0,1,2's strengthBasedOnThisSection.

At same time deleting "AdditionalCollisionChunk0 DeckN/C/T" from Part0,1,2,
and add new Part3 = "BaseChunk DeckN", Part4 = "BaseChunk DeckC", Part5 = "BaseChunk DeckT",
and also original Part3 and after ALL increasing Part number +3.

My first post zip based on your USNFleetCarriers MODded ships.ini.
All Essex classes have speed 27.78km/h.

I made Essex's Deck weaker than Lexinton.
I think it is historical.
I don't have much time to test all of my changes bombing or torpedoing, now doing.

western

Have not tried it yet, but watched the video and it looks really good. I have a few questions i would like to ask.

1. Is it possible to add this more varied damage mod to other ships?
2. Is there any way it can be randomised, so say it might take 1 torpedo or 5 to sink a ship?
3. would it be possible for the guns to continue firing even when sinking, at the moment the guns stop as soon as the ship reaches its sinking hit points which is a bit of a give away that the ship is critically damaged.
4. is it possible for some of the AA guns to be disabled the more damage a ship takes? for example any guns in the vicinity of a torpedo strike could be damaged.

regards

Once the two new settings are created...between Huge and Enormous...you should be able to apply them to any ship by altering the data in the Technics.ini
Battleships have always seemed to be too strong to me.

I have also noticed that moving ships are stronger than their static equivalent..... or am I mistaken?

2. Is there any way it can be randomised, ...
I have sucessfully randomised sinking parameters in the ships.ini ie. sinking, roll, pitch rates, so that ships each sink in a different way. This is different (of course) to randomising damage effectiveness.

n a noob to pretending to understand a specific game engines differences, could the roll rate be ratio-ed/fed into or some simple math into effecting something like for example; affecting damage, armour or probability of a 'dud' (So long as the numbers/maths involved is fairly simple it shouldn't affect fps much)

True enough Kaninami, although that would be the 'cherry on top' the carrier cake, so to speak/type.
