Nice BT~Walker

@ Hoss: Well your heart is in the right place Hoss, thanks awfully old chap!

Well once I bent over, grasped firmly and pulled hard I realized that the 000_EnginesMod_Beta was loading after 000_1956_Core_v12.  I changed the engines mod to 0000_EngineMod_Beta and it loads first the the Mod works fine now........ now for HSFX............... hehehehehe.....why is it getting dark all of a sudden..... gotta go..

Cheers

I'm not having any luck with getting it to work with HSFX  at all, has anyone figured out how to get it to work?.

AG-51 had the old JW1.1 working in HSFX 5.0.1 using a modact from somewhere.  I can get the game to start and load and I see the planes from the air.ini list in QMB but there are no pictures or loadouts.  I go in and find I did not put in the .rc scripts for Jetwar SFS.  When I put those in the game crashes at 5%.  Which is supposed to be a modact problem.  Now I'm not sure how Fireball did that in 5.0.1.  I don't know if he had the HSFX History mod enabled in the mod because we don't use a Mod folder, it's a jsgme enabled mod and goes directly into the Files folder.  I have not tried it yet with Stock (Mod Friendly) Compatibility mode. But then the game probably would not be compatible with SEOW formats.  And our old 5.0.1 mod was compatible.  I have tried the Modact from il2 modders and parts of the Modact 4 and renamed it from #SAS to MODS.  They all gave the same results.

So if someone out there figured out how to get Jet War 1.2 to work in HSFX I for one would be very grateful to hear how.

Because I have a bunch of MDS and Coops from the old 1.1 pack and new ones from the 1.2 pack to put up for download.

Cheers

And Happy Holidays

Hoss

Addendum to original

Okay, I got it to work in HSFX with the Mod folder or a jsgme to the files folder.

I put the @sfs MOUNT SAS_SFS/sasamt_jetwar_01.sfs & 02 into the .rc file and put the Jet War SFS files into a SAS_SFS folder in the il2 root folder and it finds them.  But................... on some of the planes I get a freeze during loading of the aircraft at 100%, I hit esc and it goes back to desktop.

Sabre's with AtoA missiles
CA-27/32
FJ-3M
MIG-17F
MIG-17PF
TU-4

all of these planes freeze at 100% loading from QMB screen, all of the others load, but I get freeze in game when they go to drop bombs, or when one is hit and wants to come apart.  I'd give you a log file of the freeze but my game CTD's at 70% when I enable Log=1.

It looks like I got them all to work except for the planes that carry Sidewinders or Russian planes that carry AtoA missles, including the Tu-4....... Kitchen missile I reckon.

Got some last minute instruction from the Guru, but the results were even worse........  plane loads but I got blue sky, the blue deck plates, with Mountains and trees showing and no plane.

Not being able to keep logs without the game CTD at 70% with Log=1 enabled I'm pretty much screwed, it's going to take someone who knows more about this than I do and can send the developers a logfile to see what's causing the problem.  I'll try again with JW1.3 comes out, but if the luck remains the same I'm just going to have to live with the fact HSFX will never be able to run Jets other than stock UP3 planes..... and that blows...... LOL

Cheers

Jet War 1.2 works like a charm in 4.11.1 with Mod Act v4.0, I have that working with no problems.

I was referring to HSFX in the post above, the Engine_AI_etc_Beta works in HSFX but there are some class file problems with the Jet War Core files I can't sort through, because I have no knowledge of how to even start.  The boys at RAF-242, are probably not interested in making it work, so it's up to the hardcore HSFX guys to see if it's possible.

AG-51 Hoss,

I couldn't resist and tried latest sas modact as well, mainly because it's compatible with 4.11.1 and better AI ;-)

I also have modact 4, latest 4.11.1 buttons (10.1) and jetwar 1.2 up and running, but seem to be missing a few sounds for some jets.

Some Sabre's (dog's) and some Mig-17 variants don't produce engine sounds. Basic versions do, but higher versions seem to be missing them. Likely related to sound matrix in buttons file or some missing sfs files I guess.

Can you confirm?

Rgs,
ZZ

Yep no sound in any of the Sabre Dogs, no sound in the Mig-17F and PF............. everything else is fine, even Meteors now....

Cheers

Rgr that Hoss thank you!

What will JW 1.3 add? what platform(install) is it aimed for?

And what does HSFX add to "the mix" that 4.11 + Modact canĀ“t give you? besides the compiling of files of course...

JetWar is an inter-rim update to the original pack. Changelog of the current private RC is:
Changelog:
- Compatible with 4.11.1m using SAS Engine Mod v2.6
- Added afterburner sounds to MiG-17F/F and F86-D/K (which is why with the BETA buttons you currently have no sounds for those jets)
- Corrected MiG pilot helmets. Now have WW2 style leather helmets as per era
- Fixed cockpit bug in late F-86s that showed part of missile instruments
- Fixed missile smoke size bug
- Adjusted engine effect code so it appears based on thrust, not just power
- Fixed front gear spinning bug on MiGs
- Implemented new flight model parameters (e.g. differential braking now defined in FM)
- Sirena-2 removed from MiG-17PF as never used historically
- Radar reimplemented in MiG-17PF. Still buggy but will fix for final release
- MiG-15/17 flap settings corrected and using new code in SAS Engine Mod. In addition, MiG-15 drop tank repositioned correctly
- Added bomb fuses (for 4.11.1m only)

Ok, let's see:

Quote
- Adjusted engine effect code so it appears based on thrust, not just power

FTW, finally, I've had enough afterburner flame at 10% thrust in Fresco.

Quote
- Radar reimplemented in MiG-17PF. Still buggy but will fix for final release

Radar in IL-2 is finally coming to town. Beware yankees!

Now, if you won't kill me, few bugfix suggestions:
- F-86 pit damage - currently, the damage textures for F-86 are broken. One thing are canopy bullet holes: they appear in the air, in front of canopy. When canopy is closed all holes appeares to be on windshield and when it's open they float above pilot's head. Another thing are strange black artifacts around damaged instruments
- Navigation instruments - since the first version the compass in all jets in pack (both MiGs and Sabres) is broken. The needle doesn't move with the disc and instead of pointing constant vector on it, it stays in one position when the rest of compass turns. That makes it quite useless.

These are old bugs back from 1.0, so I wonder why noone mentioned them in 23 pages long thread, although Anto clearly stated this thread is for bug reports, not for installation support.

Radar may or may not be in v1.3. See how things pan out. As for pit damage, I'll look into it but as I didn't build the pits, I might not be able to fix them. Nav instruments I know about but thought they work fine in the MiGs (just not in the Sabres)

Displaced bulletholes are a mistake in hier.him IIRC - they were there since the first seperate release of Freddy's pits and were fixed in HSFX.

As for artifacts around damaged indicators, I'm not sure but I think they were not there before repaint for JW, I guess some textures are broken.

I can't seem to get it to work.

loads to 40% and then quits.

For anyone with this problem:

Make sure the folder "000_SAS_AI_Engines_Etc_Mod_411_Beta" this "above / on / up" folder "000_1956_Core_v12". (Inside # SAS #)

To do this, simply change the name so "00_1956_Core_v12"

Hugs.!!
