I believe the helmet comes with the plane. Pilot skins won't change it.

That's actually correct in part only.
Default helmet comes instead with pilot, I believe. You can see it in high left corner of pilot skin.
But you can find customized helmet as "helmet*.tga" file into aircrafts added as mods.
You can see just the F-4's mod as example. Otherwise I've got an F-84's skin containing itself the helmet's sample too.
However you can find a Korean war pilots skin pack at M4T.

In Jet War 1.2, the MiG pilot's helmet is added as part of the Mod. I am not sure how you can get rid of it. The pilots used in the Jet Era Mod were redone for the MiG-17 pilots of the later years and thus have a different helmet. The original leather helmet that Charlie is talking about is still there but is covered over by the jet era helmet.

Thanks, USG. I guess I'm stuck w it unless the developers of the mod revise their stuff to include the option to delete the plastic helmet on the early Migs.  :(

If any of them is reading this post, I would ask that they consider doing that in the interests of historical accuracy.

The mod also places US parachute harness and a US life jacket on the pilot and again, these are quite inaccurate.

I have a texture problem with some parts of the Mig's interior.

Is that caused by my poor PC?Because i had thoose textures working in 1.1 Jet war.

Where's your evidence to say that they are inaccurate?

As far as Korea is concerned, all the photos in the Osprey Aces book. All the photos support Elephant's pilot as being accurate w the leather jacket and helmet and no lj. IIRC the Soviet pilots were also forbidden to fly over the sea and this would support the no life jacket piece as well.

Appreciate yr interest.

I really like this pack with all the new possibilties for mor modern age-like jet wars. I did however find a problem. Not sure if it has something to do with this pack, but when I stall a mig (Both the mig-15 and the mig-17) and try and recover from it, my plane randomly explodes or loses a wing. I just throttle down, elevator and flaps down and extended, and rudder and ailerons against the rotating direction. As soon as the plane starts to recover, it will twitch all over the place and eventually break apart. I don't have this problem with any other plane so far. I run it with the SAS modact and everything else works. Any idea what might cause this?

Soviet pilots were forbidden to fly over sea? Maybe in Korea.

Anyway I've had a look at a few of my books and indeed it seems most pilots in VVS, Polish and Korean service war WW2 style uniforms/equipment. On the flip side, almost all the pictures of the MiG-15UTI and a handful of MiG-17s show pilots wearing uniform similar to what we have now. So as a compromise, I'll replace the pilot model with the most common type. So for all MiG-15s and MiG-17, they will get WW2 style pilots. BUT I'll leave the UTIs as is, as they were used right into the 1960s when that style of uniform/helmet was introduced

Thanks, Anto. I appreciate the consideration. Would there be any way of producing a mod to allow the player to choose between the 2 models?

Yes, in Korea there was always concern about a Soviet flyer being captured by the Americans and displayed to the Western media and the Cold War going "hot" as a result.

Hi Guys,

The 60% CTD thing has probably been done to death but this may help anyone installing for the first time. Loaded JetWar1.2 over vanilla 1946v4.101 + modact 3.06. In the additional readme (Jetwar 1.2Dox) instructs to add to the air.ini and plane ru the F-86D40, F8-6D45 and Tu-4. Game was CTD until I removed the F-86's. Kept the Tu-4 game loaded ok. Hope this helps and appologies if this has been mentioned before
