I was very happy for Sweden when they did beat Checks and got place in the final game.
That 19 year old fella from our national league, Granlund, made 'lacrosse' goal against Russia in semifinal. Really cold blooded action, seems that he has no nerves at all. Real shock for Russias goalie Barulin. I was seeing horror in his eyes. Was really funny to watch how Russians big stars started to really frustrate after 3-0 goal, Kovalchuck mostly and Ovetckin was useless. They had this big tank Artjuhin. Looks like he was making camp in front of opponents goalie or planning gang fight. Not funny if I had to play against him but interesting to watch far away thinking: 'what happens next'. But nevertheless Russia game felt like little final for me. And they made history, beat Russia second time in same World Cup tournament.
In finals second period when Pääjärvi made that 1-0 and one player on our team soon took penalty I felt like: "Thats it, here we go again. Deja vu, old Sweden. Maybe game over" Drank more beer, actually lot of beer. Eyes mostly closed and eating my finger nails like last meal. And then 7 seconds before second period end: 1-1.
Third period was the one I have never seen before against Sweden, I bet whole Sweden felt horrible, five goals to Swedens net. When Granlund passed and Pesonen made 4-1 I am rather sure that pass was really meant to pop out from back of the box and for Pesonen.
This is only second World Championship for our country and first was 1995. -95 we had swedish couch Curt Lindström.
In last final Sweden had very young team and was playing new style. For future I see lot of growing potential in both final's participant teams. Maybe next year we have same kind of thriller coming. And games are then in our own home field.

There was aprox. 100000 people waiting our national team to arrive home.
In way home our goalie couch Pasi Nurminen had virus named 'alcoholis paralyzis' and lost connection to his legs. WC-pocal was not harmed.
