Setting up IL2 controls, help requested.
« on: May 14, 2011, 12:33:22 AM »

So I'm getting the last piece of my new gear tomorrow, the CH products throttle quadrant.
This will be used with my CH pro pedals and combatstick.
So now I'm in a situation where I seem to have many, many more buttons and switches than I really need. I mean what all does it take to fly a 109 effectively right?
So I pose the question to you guys that have full HOTAS setups, how is it set up? What are your button/switch assignments?

I use on my hotas Flaps, ruddertrim and pitch trim. I feel there is no need for hotas on mixture and proppitch (maby on carriertakeoff) there is only a few AC that need mixture management in altitude. that I use No6 and upward for. gratulations with your new stick and throttle  ;D

I don't have a throttle quadrant, but for a 109 you don't have much else to worry about other than throttle control. I believe mixture, prop pitch, and supercharger speeds are set automatically in the 109, yes? I would map one of the throttle levers to radiator\cowl flaps and maybe another to flaps up/down. Would also make sense to map some of the throttle switches to engine on/off, magnetos, gear up/down, etc.

On my joystick I have the trigger set to fire both MGs and cannons simultaneously, but also have a seperate button mapped to just cannons and another mapped to bombs/torpedoes. I also have a mode selector switch that I use to change the trigger mapping from MGs/cannons to rockets to MGs only. I have another joystick button mapped to cycle through the different views: gunsight, normal, and wide and a button mapped to center view. I have one of the joystick throttle controls mapped to elevator trim as I have a seperate throttle.

Just some ideas for you.

Have fun with your new toys!
