Occasionally, AI will do some amusing things. For example, I saw one AI pilot land and taxi a short distance from the runway. When he stopped, the his plane kept bouncing on its nose wheel. Also, the pilot opened the canopy. Normally, the only time a pilot opens the canopy is when they are preparing to land on a carrier. While the airstrip was on a small island, that's still not a carrier and the plane in question was not a carrier plane.
In the same mission, my wingman just went out on his own after I give the return to base command and flew back to the mainland, at tree top level. Eventually, it appeared that he was flying to a mainland base that I normally use on the this map, even though the final waypoint for my flight was on the island airstrip.
Eventually, he got within visual range of the mainland airbase, but ran out of fuel. He was too far from the airbase to land there and "decided" to ditch in a nearby river. Why in the river? Who could say? Because he ran out of fuel, I'll never know for sure whether or not he was going to land at an airbase other than the one I assigned. Probably, it was just a coincidence that he was lined up for an approach to an "alternate" airbase when he ran out of fuel.
Anyone had any amusing AI incidents lately?
Cheers,
Riptide
