Ultrapack 3.0 and Diff-FM problems
« on: May 28, 2011, 09:27:17 AM »

Hallo at all  ;)

I enjoy the new UP 3.0 verry much  ;D

Only one problem: If I have the "Diff-FM" in the  #UP# - folder the game stops on the beginning (freezing image) of every mission I load (QMB too).

I am using the Diff-FM for 4.10.   Is there already a new Diff-FM for UP 3.0  ???   or does anybody know a "work around"   ???

perhaps somebody made the same experience

There is already DiffFM in UP3 because UP3 has IL2 1956.

Then why do some aircraft get the CTD's?

because they are using 4.09 buttons files or diff fm files.

Hello Docholiday, I have been trying to put aircraft into the #UP# folder also along with the DiFF but I get a memory crash.

Here's my post in tech help.

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16053.0.html

Looks like whatever we had in our 4.101 modded is no go in UP 3 for some reason. :(

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Again you cannot put any random DiffFM or ANY DIFFFM AT ALL into UP3. UP3 uses it's own special one adapted for several mods including il2 1956. By using your own diffFM you will screw up the installation. You cannot use any 4.09 diffFM planes. 4.101m diffFM only. Other people have posted 4.09 version DiffFM for 4.101m use. This cannot be used.

Hello F22-Raptor-2006, the Diff I'm using is for 4.10, hence my use of it in that version of the sim and why it was the one I copied and pasted into the #UP# folder. ;)

It works in my 4.101 so you would think it will also work in UP 3 which is supposed to be the evolution of that, or am I wrong on this?

Here is the one I'm using:

Or is it that there is a further update of this?

All the best, Pete. ;D

UP3.0 should already have it as well as Il2 1956 if u have that installed. Various mods need to modify that classfile in UP3 so DiffFM should be already enabled. If you enable a separate version of DiffFM then you remove compatibility with all the mods that needed to modify that file inside UP3.

Hello again F22-Raptor-2006.  I have a vanilla 4.101 which has now been modded to UP 3, so obviously I have the appropriate Diff already in as well as the 1956 jet pack.  Now if I just add a 4.101 aircraft into the #Up# folder and add the necessary lines to the air.ini the sim will crash so obviously something does not work right as the aircraft should load if I understand you correctly.  If I take the 410 Diff and add that to the #UP# folder the sim loads but I then get a memory crash once I select the aircraft I intend to fly, the aircraft appears in the arming screen but the error occurs when i go to fly it.  This is all aircraft incidently with the Diff in that folder, not just the one I'm trying out!  So does that mean that all our previous mod aircraft in 4.101 are useless in the UP 3 version of the sim?  Or does it require a further updated Diff?

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

yes, if you just drop a 4.101 plane (like for example the P-51 Ramjet, which is a diffFM plane) into #UP# and add the lines you will get a 60%CTD. iff you add the diffFM4.10 too the game will load, the plane sghows in the list but when you selct it, say in QMB, the mission loads but at 100% crashes with "memory cannot be read" error

so, some difference must be there in UP3 to the regular dffFM.... kinda screwed at the moment.

Hi mates,

let us cut the long story short.
UP3 has no DiffFM included. This is an intentional limitation since Ultrapack is focused on online compatibility.
Since there have been modifications applied to the FM classes (which have been introduced with the Jets pack in order to enable Transsonic capabilities), you can't just use an old DiffFM version since it's missing the required modifications.

With respect to UP we should leave it like that for the time being.
Later on I'm quite confident there will be some UP3 compatible DiffFM available.

Best regards - Mike

Thank you very much for that Mike, I can now stop trying to add aircraft out of 4.10.1 as you have finally confirmed they won't work. ;)

It would have been nice if someone could have pointed this out from the start.

It in no way detracts from what is a superb piece of work it is just nice to know what can or can't be done.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
