This map is much needed as it represents the beginning of Operation Barbarossa. The seige of Brest- Livotsk is here and the map connects up Lvov and Smolensk to Kiev and Moscow. Already doing missions on this map. Couldnt wait so I built up Brest and the frame rate held up. Would send a screen shot or two but I dont know how to upload yet. Thanks.

Thanks Uzin. I'm sure it will be a much needed addition to the map stock when it's finished. I hope you have a speedy, and complete recovery.

cheers

Thank you for encouragement.
I am now working on Minsk, creating textures according to german map of WWII .
Then, revision of some airfields , and the whole  refinement will be done.
After these tasks, the next release candidate of the map could be available.

Hi Uzin. Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope you are feeling better. Of course theres no "hurry-up" on the map. I just hope you're well enough to work on it. Best wishes! :)

The health improved without a surgery. Thank you for your interest.
Just yesterday I returned to the work on the map, still fine tuning Minsk, then I want to re-build some airfields with hexagonal concrete plates made by Dispersalfield guys. These plates are more historical ones.
There seems to be aproblem with the size of towns in Il2 as compared to the size of buildings: if you make correctly the size of towns and streets, with respect of, e.g., river turns,  then buildings seem to be too small and the town too empty. I am not decided yet how to treat this discrepancy.

An option is to edit the city and village textures by copypasting elements of aerial photographed cities on it. Google Earth can be a source for it.
From above and medium altitude it looks well populated. Unfortunately when flying at treetop level it looks still quite empty.
Guys like Redko, Canonuk, Oknevas,Cyberolas and others do it also this way.

I'm trying to make city  Minsk - based on German wartime photos. Met with a question relating aerodrome  on the south side of the city. See photo below.
Q: Does the freeway which is  indicated by the red arrow, crosses the aerodrome which  indicated by a red dotted line, or what? Please help, I'm not an expert on aerophoto. Maybe someone is an expert in Minsk?

Hello, Uzin) Probably, you have this link - http://imf.forum24.ru/?1-4-0-00000060-000-10001-0 - this is thread of military&historical forum about photos of destroyed Soviet crafts on aerodromes near of Minsk... As I can see, there is some maps and schemes about geografical locations of some airfields, for example, Loschitza...
There - http://reibert.info/forum/showthread.php?t=201314 (in first post) you can see detail photo of Minsk-Sud airfield with expllanation of it's buildings location...
And there is a collection of wartime photos (Minsk) - http://www.avia-n-aero.ru/photo.php?category_id=11&parent_id=9. On the left side you can find list of some other photos of Belarussian airfields
Sorry, if that information duplicates your issues)
Regards, Andrei)

Hi, Gromm,
thank you for your links to data sources.
I am going to study it immediately.

EDIT:
You gave me real treasure of informations, now the Loschica airfield will be rather historical on the map of Belarus.
