Gromm, off topic - I am halfway through a map of the South Ukraine in WW2 and need info re the airdromes at Uman', Kirovograd, Nikolayev, Odessa and a few others during the war years.

I checked the sources above. Do you know of any others?

Hello, very needed map.
The Polish commander-in-chief and Marshal of Poland in 1939, Edward Rydz-Smigly, forecast that this area would be used for a last stand by the Polish Army, where it would await the relief on the western front from Poland's allies (of course it was impossible, because the agressors didn't agree on his war plans :D).
Then it was area of Barbarossa initial stage.
It is important to note that Pinsk was the main base of the The Riverine Flotilla of the Polish Navy (Polish: Flotylla Rzeczna Marynarki Wojennej), better known as the Pinsk Flotilla - till 1939. So in Pinsk moored over 100 combat and transport vessels and Riverine Air Escadrille (three float-planes ???). There were too: the Naval Command, barracks, bunkers and hangars for airplanes, workshops, offices and halls dock, as well as across the river base fuel and ammunition dumps. During actions against the Soviets and the Germans, most of the ships were scuttled by their crews to avoid capture. In 1939-40 most of them were refloated, repaired, rearmed and included in the Soviet Pinsk Naval Flotilla (1940). They took an active part in battles of the Second World War but were mostly destroyed in 1941 (by Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverine_Flotilla_of_the_Polish_Navy).
I think it is possible to recreate this base (we have so many new objects now, i.e. new ships), or at least to create it "from imagination" (there are only few photos saved) ;).

Polish monitors in Pinsk before 1926 (little Pearl Harbour  ;D ;D ;D).

I'm trying to make city  Minsk - based on German wartime photos. Met with a question relating aerodrome  on the south side of the city. See photo below.
  Q: Does the freeway which is  indicated by the red arrow, crosses the aerodrome which  indicated by a red dotted line, or what? Please help, I'm not an expert on aerophoto. Maybe someone is an expert in Minsk?

Hi Uzin, it looks to me as if the road going across the airfield is the original course, whereas the dog leg around the edge of the airfield to the left is where it was moved to when the airfield was built. I would definitely say that there is NO road across the field. These things show up as crop/grass marks for ages - there is one on an airfield near where I grew up that can still be seen today, sixty years later.

:cheers:

Hello, Uzin!

I test your Belarus map.
I don't have enough data about Belarus, I can't give you any information about airfields or towns...

Only about load.ini's "[WORLDPOS]" section,
I feel this is better.

Code: [Select]
[WORLDPOS]
CAMOUFLAGE = SUMMER
MONTH=7
DECLIN = 53
PRESSURE    = 745
TEMPERATURE =  23
CLIMATE = HumidContinental

"CLIMATE = HumidContinental" , this line is optional one required by my "Variable Temperature MOD".
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,20264.0.html
With this CLIMATE= line for players without my MOD, this line will be nothing bad.

With my MOD and this [WORLDPOS] parameters, Termperatures are moving like here.
Code: [Select]
[10:02:27] Month = 7 , Hour = 12
[10:02:27] Temperature -     0m = 22.0 .
[10:02:27] Temperature -  1000m = 15.51001 .

Hi, western0221,
I am glad that you are improving the load.ini section of Belarus map. The map itself is still WIP, now I am working on Minsk phototexture populating. Your awesome weather mod will be tested before the next release of beta, hoping somedays in summer.

Hi, everybody !
Many, many thanks to you all for moral (and not only that) support, it was surely needed, since the population of Minsk is really hard labour .  ;)
As for Pinsk, this is another town worth to make better than default, but  more info of the WWII state must be gathered before. I hope something might be let to mission makers ?

Hi, it will be honour for me to have at least such kind of small effort in Your work - and if You wish so, I can try gather some old pictures of Pinsk and info about state from 1939. I think it was beautiful place before 1939 (during war and soon after many interesting buildings were destroyed and lot of population - esp. of jewish origin - was killed), and indeed is worth to make better than default. Maybe I'll insert infos about Pinsk in post #61, because I don't wanna make a mess in this topic (and all my informations about Pinsk will be in one post)?

Your contribution to the map would be very welcome, info in your post No 61 is new to me.
The aerial photos of the whole town are needed most. As for the particular objects - buildings - I did not yet learned to do it, so in future beta map there would be default buildins so far. I really appreciate your kind help.

Hi, Gerhard,
glad to hear it from you, you are welcome. The map so far released is wery raw  pre-beta.
New wersion, still beta, is in the state that I am populating a 1:1 phototexture of Minsk. In spite of the fact that Minsk was (and is) the city full of gardens, it would take some time.
These days, I received a lot of additional info about Pinsk, Baranovichi and Bialystok, but the next release will be, I suggest, with default textures for these cities, phototextures might be included later. The problem with too much texture slots needed arise. Any suggestion would be welcome, from you or anybody else here.
Best regards.
