Hi, ls and mandrill,
these points of elevation around Pinsk were repaired a lot time ago - the map released was a very preliminary one, not for ordinary use yet.  These points arose from the microdem radar erratic readings in the swamps, I think.
Sorry for being yet unable to release the repaired version I am working on, be patient, please. Now I am approaching to an end of populating Minsk 8 phototextures with -2 enlargement .
I am hesitating if  not to employ Carsmasters 2048 or 4096 size pixtures
http://dispersalfield.ru/main/index.php/topic,705.0.html
instead (read pp. 1 to 10, please), what can save load.ini slots for making more cities by phototextures obtained owing the Gromm very appreciated effort. This, however, might be another delay of the release date.
Thank you everybody for your interest in the map, it helps me to overcame some burnout syndrome I feel sometimes. It is perhaps too great the task for an old man I am.  ;)
Aha, so my previous post was quite needless (but I leave it here for while because of pictures  ;D)
Please don' hesitate  ;) - great things need time, I admire Your energy and effort made to create maps.
Best regards,
LS

There is an issue w the game engine. To place bridges across rivers, the ground elevation has to be set to 0.00 in the vicinity. So it is difficult to set large towns on rivers at above 0.00 elevation.
But there is no such necessity. Pinsk is very low located (on pictures You can see surface of ground almost on the same level with river - these plains on spring was always an overflow area).
So my proposition is to locate Pinsk and opposite bank of the Pina River as low as possible.
Regards,
LS

Sorry, I read your post too early in the morning and misunderstood. I thought you WANTED more hills, not fewer. Ooops!

Thanks!!! I'm impressed. In attachment my vision (unfinished - and now I'm sure it will be left in this stage  ;D) of prewar Pinsk, of course made on another map and with standard FMB objects.

Your version is much more realistic, but if can I make some suggestions, based on the photos and plans of prewar Pinsk (linked in post: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16313.msg263958.html#msg263958):

- there was not such kind of object like a big olympic stadium (before 1939 Pinsk was rather small town - population ca 35.000), there were only places marked in german plans as "sportplatz" - so maybe to delete it;
- part of town (its center - nearest to the bridge) was located on the bank of the river - so maybe to move some objects (churches and houses) nearer to the bank and bridge (there was a kind of market square in this place - visible on plans - http://wwii-photos-maps.com/germancityregionalmaps/slides/City%20Plan%20Pinsk%20%20November%201943.html - and here - http://www.dws-xip.pl/wojna/rozne/porty/6b.jpg );
- aha, and is it possible to make a long narrow island on the river (visible on plan: http://www.armchairgeneral.com/rkkaww2/maps/topograph/pinskplan39.jpg and aerial photo: http://www.dws-xip.pl/wojna/rozne/porty/6b.jpg), situated beetween bridge and harbour, and another smaller one under the bridge - http://wwii-photos-maps.com/germancityregionalmaps/slides/City%20Plan%20Pinsk%20%20November%201943.html ?

These are only suggestions :),
old Pinsk doesn't exist, people who could remeber its prewar look died, only some photos survived.
So it's only our imagination and maybe some kind of tribute to the past...

Best Regards,
LS

Aha, and by the way one question: How You made a colour of water in river on Your map (so blue - and another maps for this geo region are showing water rather in some kind of green).

Thanks a lot, LS !
Your recommendations will be taken on account, especially as it concerns the stadium, the movement of the center of the city to the  river bank, and the islands.
Now I am going to study the linkks you kindly supplied.
Btw, what map are the pictures you showed from , please ? They look awesome.
Best regards.
