New Modact tomorrow
« on: June 08, 2011, 06:04:16 PM »

Just a heads up to all user or potantial users of the SAS Modact.

There will be a new version tomorrow, version 3.06. It contains many tiny or larger fixes and tweaks and new  and better ways of doing things. Unfortunately, so many in so wide an area, that to upgrade one will have do download the whole damn thing again. The download size will be approx. 155MB.

We do appologise for this.

There is however, good reasons fo it. The technology for making modacts and managing installations have developed at an enormous speed here over the last few months, and we have perhaps learned as much in this time as in the previous 3 years combined.

Therefore the changes came rapidly and confusingly. We have now reached a plato with these developments, and as we start down the road with UP3 support, the DarkBlueWorld system that is coming, and all these tricks and toys, we have had to make the decision to give the modact 3.x family a bit of a makeover. This is so users of that can have it even easier in future, and get more enjoyment out of it for less hassle.

Guys who install it into a fresh copy of IL2 4.101, or into a copy of IL2 4.101 with either UP3 or HSFX in it, will have no hassle installing it.

Guys who have previously installed modact 3 installations, there is actualy some good news for you!

To upgrade your install to 3.06 standard, and not loose any mods you have installed in the meantime, is very easy, and explained very well in the new guide that will be out with it. It will take less no time at all, and very little effort. You wont even have to "transfer" any previously installed mods. We will take care of it for you, no worries.

Users of the FBDSM and Jetwar SFS addons wil also be pleased that to install those in the new Modact is even easier than ever. And transferring those mods to the new modact is a simple copy and paste.

Again, appologies for the repeated download, but thats just how it has to be. The Modact developed a lot, and it realy needed to get put into a new slightly better format, to make it easier to manage in future.

But again, on the bright side, there is some realy awesome new stuff with it. A new MissionPro that will not interfere with your stock QMB missions that you may be needing for UP3 or another pack. A new selector that is made to speed up the startuptime of installs with many mods added considderably. Imprementation of the new camo schemes utilised in FBDSM, to all stock maps. A new way of adding FBDSM SFS addons that does not interfere with FBDSM on other packs, all UP3 guns and cannon classes to not only benifit from the awesome research and work they did on it, but also to trigger modded gun sounds at last! Placeholder SFS systems for future SFS soundmod options by guys like Jiver.

Just, a lot of things, adding up to a realy kick-ass modact, and something we will be able to carry on with for months and years to come.

Once again, appologies for the download size, in advance.

Till tomorrow then. :)
Salutes!

In addition to CirX's efforts, a huge thanks has to go out to Storebror. He has been quietly slaving away at improving the ModAct for a while now and the results are great. Of course, there have been a small group of people backing him up, so cheers to your efforts as well (you know who you are ;) )

Exciting times ahead. Offliners are really going to love DBW, that's all I can say :D

Well then props out to Mr. Storebror too and all involved, working like slaves on these improvements.
I hope they get freed when this huge Package is ready or at least a warm meal and some freetime?
