I'd like to see someone else finish this map or at least add roads/railroads.

I remember those skins from the old AAA!
I had Beebop make those newer skins for me, which I must say, look really good with their insignia and weathered camo.
I'm making a small campaign now so the skins will be available (in two weeks! be sure). ;)

CzechTexan,

Could you arrange an additonal download source. I haven't been able to get mediafire to work for over a month.

Cheers,

Can anyone else make a mirror for this download?
I don't have access to high-speed net right now to do it.

Good points Boomer.  I completely overlooked the map files and did not notice their format.  Perhaps agracier made this map in a bit of a hurry and forgot to change it.  I do recall that he did make it right before he went on vacation.  Anyhow, whomever takes over is now forewarned about the changes needed to be made.  Thanks for the tip.

Hello all, for a long time I've been intending to have a go at making a few changes to this lovely map in order to update a campaign I did long ago on the Thailand map portraying the events of the Lang Son incident between the japanese and French colonial forces during the 1940's.

Today I took the first steps by adding the river course at Lang Son which wasn't included when the map was released by Agracier and CzechTexan . ;)

I downloaded the map from this thread rather than extract it from the sfs files in DBW so the changes Boomer has requested to the ed maps will have almost certainly have been done to the map in DBW but I've indexed then anyway because this will eventually be uploaded for installation in MapMods.

I'm not sure quite how much I will do to the map, the priority being Lang Son and the roads and rail around it.  I also need to add an airfield that was used by the Potez 25's, however, information concerning that is non existant from searches I've made up to now. :'(

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hi Pete,

How are you?

I may have the informations you are looking for... I recently bought a (big) book about aviation in Indochina from the early 1920s to the WW2. It is full of plans, photos, etc. Let me have a look...  ;)

Glad you make some work on this new map...  ;)   :)

Cheers

Hello Anatoli, nice to know you're still around, I trust I find you well and still flying the sim.  It's been some time since you posted any images of you're squads adventures on the Vietnam map, have you moved on to new pastures?

Any information you can find on the airfield near to Lang Son would be most welcome, as well as any others, be they North or South Vietnam from the colonial period. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

No... Still flying on the colonial map... But as I am lazy, I did not translate the last reports in english... Here is one one them (full of pictures!) in french :

http://www.checksix-forums.com/showthread.php?t=175242

I let you know quickly about informations for Lang Son airfield and others... This area was the theatre of one of the most violent battle (and one of the worst french military disaster!) during the colonial era, called "the battle for the RC4" in 1950.

Here is some Wikki info about it :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Route_Coloniale_4

Cheers...

PS : I am making a night template (airfields, villages, and camps with lights, etc.) for the Indochina_colonial_map. I am doing it in order to play night missions on this map. I will share it here as soon as I finish it...
