Made myself a personalised Il2 Launching screen with a retro sepia/weathered look to it and a dash of humour...

blaubaer, thats gorgeous!  I might still add some titles and graphics though.  The idea came about because the old 4.09 load times went up to over a minute or so, it gave me something less boring to look at on-screen.

How to make? - The Loadscreen is resident in STD/GUI, usually called Background.tga, alondside an associated config file.  Anyone can take the tga and modify with paintshop, illustrator etc. 

Beware though, ALWAYS BACK UP. 

The older graphics structure of IL2 requires a bit of tinkering with the resolution and format of your image.  A lot of newer illustrator programs tend to re-save the tga file at a higher quality than Il2 can cope with and it sometimes doesn't always show up as intended or defaults to basic blah-image instead.  No problem if you backed up though...

Here's an earlier one, I interchange the two from week to week...

I like the dark Intro-screen to fill the monitor and focus the attention, like the curtain going up in a cinema, the full colour fury is all inside.  As the tension builds the screen says "prepare yourself..."

These are my UP3.0 and modded V4.09 IL2 Launching Screens. I didn't create them myself but got them from AAA a long time ago..
Anything is better than the original UP3.0 version which looks more like a gospel CD cover or an announcement for a christian event in your local church.  ;D

Really cool screens.  Being of a greedy rapacious nature, I want them all.  What about the facility to add whatever you like and change screens at will?  Time for another good ol' batch file, the ScreenChanger.
