I wanna buy one  http://www.cj6a.com/index.html

If you're serious about it, consider coming to Albania. the actual government is so corrupted and inefficient that they are selling everything to make up for the big hole in the budget. AFAIK they have a bunch in flying conditions but keep them grounded only because of the expenses of flight.

PS: it really hurts me to speak this way of my own country but it is the truth.

yep, we sure do have a lot of cold war relics.
quite a story about the subs, they were hijacked by our navy from the soviets when the two countries abruptly broke their partnership in the 60s(Enver Hoxha had some balls i have to say). Too bad about the line of migs in the last picture, they were left like that for about 20 years, and last i heard they were being sold for scrap.

Maybe but i think there are still a few more airbases around Albania that have more migs. Even worse, there all for sale, but the US Government doesn't trust us with out-dated toys, so they don't let us import them

Hi, shyrsio. This plane was used as a nuisance raider during the Korean war. One or two were shot down by night fighters.

cheers

??  Wildchild, is that a T-33 in the 1st pic? It looks a bit odd, the file is kinda small, but what's the deal with the intakes and the nose? I'd love to see more pix of that aircraft.  ???

Shyrsio, I remember when Albania broke with the Soviets, and I think they got a bit closer to the Chinese if I remember correctly. That took GUTS. I assume the Migs could be Chinese or Soviet, maybe F-6s in the Background?

BTW, I guess you gave the requested info  ;D , regardless of which plane it applies to.

Than is a T-33 indeed. it forced to land in 23rd December 1957 while on a route from France to Greece or Yugoslavia.

it was preserved at the museum in the Castle of Gjirokaster for decades in a very good condition by the regime, and its still there, but it looks horrible now. The democratic governments from 1991 on didn't really pay attention to anything left from the comunist period sadly, however valuable it might be.

You are right Sleepingdragon! right after the breakup with the Soviets we connected with China, wich was a very prosperous time for Albania. When we parted ways with China too, it was the darkest period of the comunism in Albania.
About the Migs: Only a few Mig-15 bis were Soviet, tehre were some Czechoslovakian Mig-15 UTIs, and the rest were all Chinese build.
here are some pictures i took some years ago

in the sixth pic you can see a pathetic restoration attempt.

Thanx for posting these Shyrsio, sorry it took so long to respond, but I overlooked asking about this and got a bit busy. Really good photography technique you use there (I shoot this kind of stuff whenever I can, in the air or on the ground). An odd story I didn't know about.

Sure is an unusual place to put it. Those machines don't fair well in unmaintained outdoor storage that's not in a desert like Davis Monthan AFB. There is a T-33 near here (near Calhoun Ga. USA) outside that is all that remains, along with a trashed F-84F, from a former small museum at a private airfield that I used to hang out at in the 80s.

This was taken back around 89/90 when I was shooting a friend of mine in my Dad's old flight suit. It was still in decent shape last yr, though some moron pulled one of the flaps down.

But I recently shot one a couple of mos ago at a local airshow.

Even though they are fairly common, it's always fascinating to see where they wind up.
