Pablo (and Gumpy) thanks for your patience and assistance. I decided to just re-download until it worked or my head exploded. first time bombed again. Second time worked fine. I had been downloading to my C:\, but second time downloaded to desktop. Could that somehow have been an issue?

Thanks again guys - I'm probably out of your hair for awhile.

What are .fm files? Techese translation please
« Reply #61 on: February 24, 2013, 04:01:28 PM »

I just downloaded a new mod of the french LEO 451 bomber.  I was going to update a phoney war campaign.  But when I extracted this I was confronted by this bit of gibberish.

Quote
"REMEMBER TO REPLACE THE "LEO451_FM" FILE BY THE CORRESPONDING AT YOUR "BUTTONS" !

The archive contains 2 subfolders, each containing a different "FM" file.
The common file is named: LEO451_FM
A "FM " file is compulsory for operational running of this Mod !
However, according to the pack you use (4.09/4.10) or according to the type of "buttons" you use (SAS/UV2/UV3) you have to copy the proper "FM" file in the main folder of the aircraft.
By default the "FM" file of the main folder applies to : 410_buttons SAS"
I have no idea what that means or how the proper installation of the plane refers to this.   I did find the air.ini entries along with the others, but the rest?  Sheesh.

MAYDAY! MAYDAY

Hello,
I have open fb_3do24.SFS file from 4.12. I recived the report
Found 991 file(s) of 5324 total, availability 19%.
What that means?

It means that your filelist does not have 81% of the info needed, to do a full extraction of that SFS File

4.12 is a new patch and a full complete fileslist for 4.12  is not available yet AFAIK
It is all just being discovered and will take some time

I start by extracting the hier.him for the model I am looking for.
That will then give you a clue to the names for all the other parts.

I've extracted a couple of files just as an experiment but how do I take an extracted file and get it into gmax?
cheers,

Tomoose, original meshes are encrypted. They have to be exported. There was an old program to do so. Somewhere in the Forum it is.

Sorry but are too many steps and I don't do that regularly.
