Theres a few 'pilot' templates I belive at simaviation, paintsimmersworld or google IL2 Pilot Template
  Your edited pilot skin needs to saved as 256-colour/indexed bmp format, the same as aircraft skins, possible with a 0 before your name to locate it quickly in the arming pilotskin options.

Quick question, how do you save in the 256 colour format?

If you are using Paint, hit save as and choose 256 bmp.

also known as '24bit' colour/bmp in advanced saving options? I use gimp, in which it is easy; save xcf, flatten, posterise - 256, index, save as bmp.

...My mistake, I still don't quiet fully get what the bit rating relates to colourwise - 8x8x8x8x8x8x8x8? or 8 to power of 8, of 8 divided by 2 times O/S bit rate multiplied by frequency or whatever colours.
  Mb, Gb, G/M-htz etc I understand...

Do not index with any sort of dithering in gimp, select 'none', otherwise the colours will be grainier & have random white spots or other colours across convered image - BRIGHTER doesn't work well for me - lack o remembering user settings.

2^8bits = 256
8 bits:
11111111 = 255

From zero to 255 are 256 positions available to colors.

I hope this helps. :)

Thanks, cheers for trying Santobr.
  Still solves nothing, with regards binary & hexadecimal & such, I'm like a blonde about those things (no offence meant per-ce), or a Me262 passing over my head at full speed hehe 8)
For the topic... me on campaign in my Bf.109F-4

Yeah thats me, need to edit my eyes, and yup, my capaign skins upper cowling shader needs adjusting.
