J2M5 vs Ta-152 H-1
« on: June 25, 2011, 09:26:13 PM »

I want to know your opinions on these two high altitude fighters :) which do you prefer and why?

I'm a fan of the Ta myself.  Can't say why, maybe its the wingspan lol

the J2M5... in online games its a terrible threat. The Ta is sadly a Stall plane... I never managed to shoot anything down with her.
On the other hand the Ta is faster and has better armament...
But I like the J2M5 more to be honest.

I start to feel uneasy when I see a Ta coming for me. I panic if i see that stubby little thing going for me...

The Raiden is quite a platform, although I find that trying to fly it like a Fw190 A7 Sturmbock does quickley leave you heavily damaged at beast. As for stalling the Ta, I haven't flown it enough to comment.

Definitely the Ta 152H-1, if you get used to her she'll compete as any other Fighter you enjoy flying. She is maneuverable just for my likings, tight turn-fights in low altitude are no prob too. I don't fly over 7000m as I can't hold on with AI there.
Low, Mid alt only for me, there she is a good deal.
J2M5 I flew on a few occasions, but as for Japanese armament they are a bit weak for my taste if you're used to the LW stuff. Last time was before gun-options in UP3 got changed, can't tell how it felt with the new lay-out. Flying her was comfortable, good turn rates.

yes, as the big wings have low wingloads the Ta is a better turner than most of the boomzoomers of the allies. It outdoes the Mustang and is close to the Spitfire.

the J2M is not as maneuverable to me as the Ta but i like the stubby thing very much.

some say, the Ta is underdeveloped in it's FM in high altitudes... do not fly there enough to have an opion to be honest.

I don't know if this is useful info but here goes......I fly off-line with UP4.09. Over 7500m....
The Ta is one sweet bird when you get used to her.I never enjoyed the J2M5 due to the high wing loading and relativly weak guns.
But the King KatDaddy has to be the P-47.
Just my opinion,that's all.
