yeah, it's a real pity that it doesn't seem to work with DBW1.71...
Twister, are you still around? you've been very quiet for a long time.. ???
if you are still in the IL-2 modding game, i'm sure many would love to see a compatible version of this. :D

er....well, actually, i just tried it again in my DBW1.71 to load before the AI mod, and it works for the most part. no stabiliser, but the POV/Padlock part of it seems to work fine. ;)
nothing else seems to be broken as a result, at least not so far in my testing.

yeah, it was the stablilzer that I meant, as it was the feature that I used the most.
But the POV system didnt work neither, maybe because it didnt load before AI mod.

Question on a similar topic (this post is the closest I could find):

Is there a way to change the aiming reticle to be just a dot or barely visible in the no-cockpit view?  I like the gunsight view with no reticle, but it makes it touch to aim without a reference point.

Anyone?

according to the youtube vid linked in this thread: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,31116.0.html,  it seems all planes will be able to dim their reticles in the upcoming 4.12 patch.
i doubt we'll see many more reticle modding until after this patch, then. ;)

Thanks Malone.

I don't know why I would patch to 4.12 if I have to give up all my mods, but the pits did look good.

no, just wait a while, i'm sure that 4.12 will eventually be moddable. (although probably not for quite some time, seeing as 4.12 isn't even out yet, lol)....:D
for now, you could probably mod a reticle to be just a dot, for example, the Tempest/Typhoon reticle was modded such for using the Beaumont reticle (just a centre dot).
do a search for it, you might be able to copy what was done for the particular gunsight you want.
depending on your knowledge, it could just be a little editing of the tga file and it's corresponding alpha channel.
