I just upgraded from an HD 4890 to an HD 7870, and I gotta say I am sorely disappointed in how it runs 1946.  I've tried both 12.10 and the new beta drivers, using the black death track as a benchmark, I don't see a difference between them.  I actually get more stuttering and less fps with the new card than I did with the 4890...  Any suggestions?  I've tried altering 3D settings in vision control center, which also don't really seem to make much of a difference.  With all settings set to off/performance mode, I get bad stutters whenever there's an explosion (1st two minutes of the track), with fps bottoming out around 12.  Adding quality settings makes stuttering worse.  The section of the track around the 1:40 mark runs at about 18 fps, where I would get around 22-23 with the 4890...

the rest of my system:
AMD Quad Core Black Edition Deneb 3.1ghz
12gb RAM
Win7 64 bit

Thanks for putting those up, BravoFxTrt, excellent reference material.  I had some differences in my conf.ini, and apparently I didn't update my drivers correctly when I reverted back to 12.10, so took care of those things so my driver settings and conf.ini matches yours exactly.  Unfortunately the same issues remain.  It's silky smooth running about 90fps until the bombs drop, then stutters and fps loss start.  I am also using a heavily modded version, including a now outdated version of Gurner's effects mod.  I might try uninstalling/reinstalling and see if that makes a difference.  Right now I'm definitely scratching my head as to why things aren't running better...

May be conflicting class files or some bomb explosion effect mod not so FPS friendly like Gurner's effects.

Yeah, if your going to use FX Mods you might want to test the hell out of them to make sure your Vcard can take the mustard, other than that its up to how you want to enjoy your game play experience, slow, or right on. <S> and good luck.

Hi folks.

I follow this threat since the first post was made and  I´ve learned a lot about tweaking the graphics with ATI cards & drivers. Thanks to all btw.

I saved my hard earned money over the last months and...
...now,I leave the Dark Age of poor Pc power behind... :D and join the graphics party in full HD with my new build up PC.

My "Dark Times":                                  The new one:

~ASUS M2M Mainboard AM 2 socket          ~Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P Mainboard AM 3+ Socket
~Radeon ATI 3600 card (512MB)               ~AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series Card (1GB)
~4GB ram                                             ~8GB ram
~AMD Athlon X2 32bit 5600+                    ~AMD FX-4100 Quad Core Black Edition 4x3.36 Ghz Cpu
  2x 2.90 Ghz Cpu
~Win 7 32 bit                                        ~Win 7 64 bit
~19inch office Monitor                            ~ 59 cm Philips Full HD Wide Screen LCD

To make it short, the difference is unbeliveable, amazing and a huge kick in the butt! Now I can play Il-2 in 1920x1080 Resolution with 8x AA and 16x Antisotropic Filtering and all other settings on "high quality". with constant ~50 FPS and NOT a single lag/stutter etc.

Driver Packaging Version   9.002-120928m-149042C-ATI
Catalyst Version   12.10
Provider   Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
2D Driver Version   8.01.01.1266
2D Driver File Path   /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version   9.14.10.0926
OpenGL Version   6.14.10.11931
AMD VISION Engine Control Center Version   2012.0928.1532.26058
AMD Audio Driver Version   7.12.0.7705

No more atioglxx.dll is needed.all runs smooth as silk,no artifacts/stutters or anomalies.

P.s. should I give COD a new chance with this Hardware? what do you think?

Ya buddeh! Nice work Semor!  I too have learned much from this thread,  though recently I switched to a nvidia 660ti.  Took a while but got it in and runnin yestarday so I've been trying all my games to see the differences.  All I got to say is that this card is SWWEEET!  Not that my old card was comparable in any way, kinda apples and oranges (ati 6670 2gb) but I'm happy nevertheless.  Guess I'm not an ATI guy no more.  For a while at least.  ATI sure has some kickass cards out there!  But its threads like this that are worth watching for educational value and I'll be lurking...

          Cheers,
          Freya

Hello,

I just have a new computer :

AMD A8-5600K 3.60GHz

Seven 64

AMD Radeon HD7560D

driver : 8.98.0.0 (not sure of this ?)

I play Open G/L, 1920x1080, on a 26" LED Screen

J'ai mis tous les paramètres de la carte à fond, et j'ai des clignotements de texture, la flotte en particulier, avec des "apparitions" de textures terrestres sur l'eau.
I put all graphic parameters full.
The problem is I have "blinking" textures in some places, especially the water, on which some ground textures appearing and blinking too

How can I solve this problem ?

Thanking you in advance !  ;)
