There's a new set of drivers (8.93-111129a). These are not ATI official/WHQL. If any one interested Ill post a link. Im testing them now. 1946 w/o atioglxx. is good but flickering vegetation, sucks. Havnt test with COD yet.

Will watch this thread ;)..plan to order an HD 6870 tomorrow. Hope that's a good decision after reading dozens of reviews lol, trying to replace my HD 5770..and have definately no cash for an HD 6950/70 or an HD 6890. Tough quest to follow the "never replace a running system" ideology. For me the unchallenged best driver for the HD5770 was the 10-9 driver.

Cheers

From what I read about this rapid fire release of AMD performance drivers is that 11.11b are intended for 6000 series CF, and 11.11c are for 5000 series Cross Fire config's, updated performance/fixes for newly released games. But if you follow the end user reports, seems that high end Single card configs were performing better than some (high end) cross fire configs. :o  Recent end user reports that most graphic/problems are starting to flatten out on the better side. A lot of the problems were from bad previous/new driver clean uninstall or installs. "User error". ::) this has never happened to me, go figure? :-X
So best advice is find a set of drivers that work for your system/game's, and dont fix what aint broke! and, "Dunt worry, be happy". ;)

After reading the notes on 11.11c it lookks like it is 11.11a + 11.11c + crossfire performance scaling for HD5000 series, anyway I installed 11.11c and still have this problem without using the atioglxx file trick;

Dont know if there is any performance improvement yet  :-\

Hello Ratsel;

I am using slightly lower quality openGL settings than you are, I have 5 different atioglxx.dll files from 10.12 to 11.5 that I swap around from time to time. The image above is from when I dont use the older dlls at all - my point is we should not have to do this. dlls from 10.10 and earlier do not work at all for me with the later drivers so how long before 11.5 dlls dont work anymore either? AMD need to lift their game >:(

BTW thanks for your help :)

I'm using the 11.11b drivers version without atioglxx.dll or any other dll in IL-2's folder, but with this in my conf.ini:
[GLPROVIDERS]
Open GL=ati6xxx.dll

IL-2 is running perfect without any glitch or problem.
After I put that Pablo's tip in my conf.ini, I have no problems any more and I don't need the atioglxx.dll any more.
Maybe it's because my graphics card is very old and a low end card.

As most of these, it seems that nothing is universal. Eventhough some solution seems to solve the problems of many, there are others who get worst results with the tip that solved the life of the first.

So sadly is like that, we have to make our own experience. But I think that there is a general consense that ATI has made big improvements since v11.11. They seem have to take the things more seriously and developed a good product.

santobr: When I change the conf.ini to ati6xxx.dll the game will not start at all.

Pablo: I hope you are right about AMD, but so far my next card is still going to be nvidia. I had a stuttering problem with ROF not long ago, the issue was exclusive to AMD cards and not nvidia - this problem took a while to fix. I have had problems with nvidia cards too but nothing like the AMD issues.  :(

One other thing;Why do you add

[GLPROVIDERS]
Open GL=atioglxx.dll

to the conf.ini? I have always been able to get this trick to work by just dropping the atioglxx.dll in the main game folder and leaving the conf.ini unchanged :)
