I think Kaxii has thrown down the gauntlet and issued you a challenge!  That was pure trash talking!!  Once the MiG-21 and the Mirage are released, we need to set up an on-line dogfight contest between the two of you, record and post the video for all to see.  LOL.  It would be fun!

Sounds like fun. Just need jetwar 1.3 and see if the phantoms work with it.

I shall be gathering appropriate taunts and insults to be exchanged as the two gentlemen meet to be appraised of the rules of the duel. May I be so nosy as to suggest that the fight be Guns only? THAT is where we shall see which skillset/aircraft is superior.....

Though as I said, 23mm is a bit outgunned by 30mm, but the 21 has its own advantages. Soooo......

I also suggest that the theme to "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" be playing in the video track. It's appropriate.

I believe that there was a kill ratio very much in favor of the phantom in 1972.

Yeah take as long as you need, i've got  to practice online after someone tells me what mod pack i need as i have never played vs actual people with jets in il-2, only in rise of flight have i played against people!

Well, I tried to practice against AI pilots set to ace, but the MiG-19 is useless because it has a ground attack ai setting. That and the fact I couldn't line up a shot for my gun because of speed differences. That's the problem we might have. Not sure what the mod pack might be.

Mirage III vs Mig-21 was one of the most balanced match, very similar to Mig-15 vs F-86

as for the F-86, Mirages have a good kill raio against migs due pilots skill

planes had similar chance in a dogfight

i can assure that here in IL2 the match Mirage III vs Mig-21 will be very very exciting, expecially online human vs human

Actually, some IAF pilots said if they had the then current Mig-21F-13, their victory rate would have been even higher.
Mirage IIIC was not easy to fly.

i heard the contrary too

however, F-13 is not the top variant of Mig-21 to engage a Mirage III

F-13 is better than Pf/Pfm as turn fighter but the Mirage III turn better anyway, and F-13 have not acceleration and climb advantages on Dassault's fighter

so, better have a Pfm or, better again, an Mf

The MiG-21F-13 was feared by the west at the time, as it was the first truly capable supersonic Soviet interceptor armed with both cannons and heat-seeking missiles. My father, who was in the Royal Australian Air Force during the 1960's used to talk about how Indonesian 21s would regularly perform border incursions to either intimidate or to draw Australia into conflict. A lot of western nations were worried though at the rate at which the F-13 started appearing in the air forces of smaller, Soviet-aligned nations. At the time, with exception to the USA, most nations were fielding outdated 1950's designs such as the F-86E/F, Hunter, or even Gloster Meteors. So it was no surprise that this variant was feared!!

Come 1965 though, the tides turned and the MiG-21F-13 (which was still the primary fighter for many smaller Soviet-aligned states) was outdated as supersonic aircraft such as the Mirage III, English Electric Lighning, F-100 etc started to appear in many air forces.
