id say the F-5. it looks to be further in production and tested to be more equily mached with the mig-21

I think, alongside Mig 21, Mirage and Phantom are in top priority before F5, because of their extended use in various XXe conflicts as Vietnam (F4), all Middle east conflicts (F4,Mirages), Falklands (Mirages-Dagger variant), India-Pakistan war (Mirage)
Also both like Mig 21, offer a wide family of versions and sub-versions, which it's a great interest for modders.

My point is, there are two [known] adversaries under development for the MiG-21, the F-5E and the Mirage III. The F-5E has very similar characteristics as the MiG-21. Although the F-4 encountered MiG-21s much more often, there is currently no F-4 in production for IL-2. A fight between a Phantom and a MiG-21 would not exactly be even, though, as a MiG-21 is light, maneuverable, fast, and has guns. The F-4 is a heavy, powerful, faster, slow turning interceptor with no gun (on early models).

Oh... let's try not to start another conversation about who should be the MiG's opponent

It's all good guys, lots of excitement about these jets The original 'MiG-21 Adersary' thread had to be closed because people were acting like children and flaming each other.

Regardless, there is going to something to balance the MiG out in time.

I think the best ones are the F-5E and Mirage III, because of their performance, the F-4 would be historycally acurrate but it wouldn´t give a fear fight.
