Request flight location?

I'm starting to play offline missions with no external view and no map contacts. If I happen to get separated from my flight, is there any way I can ask my leader where he is? In most other flight sims I know of this is an option- if there is no way to do this it might be a good idea for a mod. I have noticed that when I am sternly told off for being off course, I am given a vector and altitude that does not match the flightplan. Is this the vector I'm supposed to follow to rejoin my flight?
