i'm not so sure that Skipper did first amphibian - i thought that was Beowulf?
nevertheless, suffice to say that we have found a way to implement VTOL, still being tested, but so far, so good, and there will surely be some nice surprises coming everyone's way soon enough.

Skipper's Gyroman was already amphibious almost a year before Beo's L-5 amphibian was released. It just didn't get much attention because it wasn't a popular aircraft.

Now when we have suitable FM for VTOL,
similar FM ( almost identical) might be created for airships, I think.
They also take off directly upwards, and land as a helicopter.
This might be better way , more immersive than now.
