are you sure it's map_T you are referring to?
i don't know of any specific tools for map_T, however there are definitely tools for map_C, which needs to be unpacked/repacked when working with it....

Yes, I am speaking about map_T, i,e. texture map. You see, when building a map, you use both unlocked FMB for example for  replacing roads relocating airfields and cities, you are correcting waters in map_C, and similar correction. As a result, the ed_m0X files should be actualised, which may be done by hand, but there was a program called such as "decomp", which allowed your (or other) map_T to extract into several layers, each of which contains only water, only wood, only roads etc, where the adjustments can be done much easier.
Unfortunately, the program did not work for me and the author seemingly disappeared .

Taking as  example BlackSea map.
When I saved the map_T.tga file as a bmp file in way  RGB color,  I get some results with decomp.exe tool.
So this means that the tool cannot read tga files, it only read bmp files and you need to save the tga file as a bmp always.

santobr,
can you show us some succesfully decomposed file by the program ?
I can read, and I know that the file is said to be saved first as uncompressed bmp file, nevertheless, no success here yet.
P.S.: I offered the files to the author before some time, but did not received any answer.

whether saved as bitmap or .tga nothing will open them
not IFranview,Gimp or the IMF tool
or anything else I tried
Precisely the same results here.
Nevertheless, I think the working program would be useful for map makers, wouldnt it ?

1. Open it in Gimp.
2. Image>Mode>RGB
3. Save as BMP
4. Run decomp <filename.bmp>
