The flight profile  (height and speed) of the SR-71, over "sensitive" areas, would effectively prevent any form of visual or radar contact by this kind of aircraft .......   as it was designed to do exactly that .... ;)

Performance  Tu-128

Maximum speed: when armed 1,665 km/h (1,035 mph; est. 1.5 Ma) when unarmed 1,920 km/h (1,193 mph)

Service ceiling: 15,600 m when armed (51,184 ft)  Maximum ceiling: 20,000 m (65,617 ft)

Performance SR-71

Maximum speed: Mach 3.3 (2,200+ mph, 3,540+ km/h, 1,910+ knots) at 80,000 ft (24,000 m)

Service ceiling: 85,000 ft (25,900 m)

... his eyesight must be good, I am surprised he didn't see Elvis in the pilot's seat as well  ......  a minimum of  approximately 20,000 ft above him ..... ;)

If it is all the same to you guys, I'm going to go with Eugene's version....

 :D :D
