Runway Lights - how to switch on?
« on: July 18, 2011, 01:54:21 PM »

Dear Friends,
How to use command "Request Runway Lights"?
Just tried a lot of times to "activate" lights by the ground control - no results at all...
It must be (if working somehow?) great improvement for night missions...

Thanks in advance for Your help.

There is official description of  patch 4.101 content:

When the player is coming to a landing during night he can request runway lights to be turned
on. This is done with a new command "Request Runway Lights" which can be found from the
old "Ground Control" commands menu. The player needs to be close enough and there cannot
be any enemy activity near the airfield. Otherwise the ground control refuses to switch on the
lights.
Ground control will switch off the lights automatically when they see that the player has
landed.

I was landing at night in a T-storm... I requested runway lights. They didn't turn on until after I crashed :P

Hello guys, for runway lights to work they must have been added to the airfield by the campaign/mission builder first, they do not appear by default on all the airfields in the sim although they were added to a particular map by TD for the purpose of demonstrating the navigation features, in particular the night landing approach, Not sure which map it was but it was a training flight for the Bf 110 if I remember correctly.

We could do with a mod that allowed a set of generic lights to be added to every airfield eh, save installing all those lights one at a time wouldn't it. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Dear Pete,
Thank You for clear explanation.
Of course - the problem is that if runway lights were on - first of all they must be PRESENT physically on the map!
So simple, but I thought that all maps have runway lights "hidden somewhere"  :D

Have good evening All!
