possible to remove fire effects from destroyed vehicles?
« on: July 18, 2011, 09:51:47 PM »

Hello again all.
So I wonder if its possible to remove the explosion and subsequent fire effects from strafed vehicles?

If it is possible, what all would it take?

Yep you can remove the Hooks from the 3d models or there may even be a setting in the config.ini to disable them, or one could probably even be created.

All you need is to edit the technics.ini file.

I'm liking where this could go Muhuhaha :)) ; less hollywood explosions for (light-er) vehicles - since when do dispatch/officers cars/jeeps/gaz's or troop carraiges etc, explode like there filled with 40L of compressed propane/butane, but it could also free up some processor load for other stuff too.

Bingo.
I was thinking today as I was strafing a column of cars that Id never seen a car explode like that, even when hit by 25mm main gun.
Then I thought, man I wish there was someone who could get in the game and fix that! Oh, wait a minute... :o

Fuel/oil tanks, bowsers, carraiges, dumps should go Cababadoom, elsewhere, un-armoured, a small fire or thin/short time (like initial oil) smoke or just a wreck.

..The tents are made from a combination of recycled plastics & gun-cotton made canvas with an old plasitque based waterproofing agent.
Built over a metal tubular frame that is easily fabricated, each tent houses the enlisted mens weapons, ammo, food, military methane bio storage/recharge unit (soldiers collected fart gas) to power the cooks stove & the local generals supply of cigars and his 'specialty' pron collection.
When shot by a 0.15 cal, said tents, will be like the the colonial revolution (4th July) day all over again.
(I say that because the He 162 forward swept wing is ingame with X-29 style carbonfibre box spars...)
Even a Dillon Mini(door)Gun doesn't blow all things up, just gives them many new a$$holes to leak from.

Trucks can explode if they are transporting ammo.

Sometimes a car can explode too: :o

But, almost every time they just catch fire without exploding. :)

Ive shot up alot of cars in my time, and seen many more than that.
Ive watched trucks take direct hits from the main gun of an M2, 25mm bushmaster, and not explode. Watched a lot of cars get hit by IED's and not explode/burn/smoke, and none of the vehicles Ive shot with .30 or .50 machine guns have exploded, just punched a bunch of holes in them. Hell even the Mk19 wouldn't get them to 'blow up' like we see in game.

Yes, they don't explode, this also annoy me.
And unfortunately, we can't chose between troop truck and ammo truck, because a truck loaded with ammo can give a huge explosion just like the ammunition wagons we can see exploding in some guncams.
Maybe a car could catch fire because of the incendiary shells.
I'm not a military, so I will ask.
I don't know about the efficiency of incendiary shells, but they are suposed to catch fire at the target.
Don't you think that 6 browning .50 with incendiary shells has a good chance of catching fire at a car or a truck?
