Red Tails movie
« on: July 30, 2011, 12:48:43 AM »

A few years ago, my dad and I got to meet one of the Tuskegee Airmen. He told us about a project that George Lucas was working on. It was a movie called Red Tails. Now after @ 3-4 years of not hearing anything about it, they've finally set a release date for it. Jan 20 2012.

You can view the trailer here.

Alot of CG, but looks amazing and full of action. Trailer includes B17s, 109s, P40s, and even a few ME262s!

Looks like a game to me... Like the Transformers, too much CG made this one an overkill...
For example, see russian 80s movie "Torpedonoscyi" - everything is done with real aircraft or models and looks much much better...

Also, the Battle of Britain done is 70s is still unchallenged as THE best epic of WWII...

Looked exciting although it lost me a bit at the end when a warship appeared to explode while being strafed...

Hey Moggy if 50 Cal's can take out Tiger tanks, then surely a little Battleship or two is easy meat.  8) 8)

Looks like a good film although there is one thing I am going to hate about this which they obviously didn't think about;

Every aircraft there is in mint condition, very clean and shiny... :(

And the Battleship towards the end  :o  ::)

Other than that looks pretty good.  8)

What ... you mean Star Wars ISN'T true ... doom and gloom descends upon the ancient Jedi !

Looks like a typical Hollywood version of events, which as we all know is usually miles away from the historical facts, but as a
bit of escapism it looks like it might be fun.  If the CGI is good all the better, I shall watch it tongue in cheek, or more likely
tongue in a bottle of Rioja.

Well... the aerial fighting scenes look really good... but as most modern war movies I saw (with a few exceptions of course) it will most likely be a bit cheesy... but let's wait until we saw it.

Looks nice, and I will certainly catch it, but they seem to make the same mistake as many air artists do: they cram
too much action into a pretty small space. Artistic license I guess.  ::)

News Flash - there is less than 15 min of air combat in the entire movie.
the script has already been released to certain organizations that represent certain ethnic groups in the US.

It is more than 80- 90 min of displays of the "institutionalized and systemic racism" as the writing in the scripts margins says,
in the US Armed services and much of the move is about the pilots experiences State side.
It is chocked full of every racial discriminatory movie Cliches ever put on film.

It's a movie that should have been made 30 years ago, because the issues in it are true, however those who are wishing
for a movie like the 1969 battle of Britain or the 1990's movie Memphis Belle will be very disappointed.

Most of the planes you will see at airbases in the movie are 90% static replicas built by "gate guards" in the UK
here at actual models from the movie.
