Film distribution is so messed up sometimes in some countries.
For example,
I went to the grand-opening showing of the "Der Untergand" (Downfall) here a few years, they
even seated me in a VIP-chair and a guy could drink a whiskey! AH! What a cool way to see  film. I congratulate all
those fine German actors for a very good performance. Good movie.
but when
it comes to some European Film companies not having a big budget to promote their films, they
won´t get distributed to some cinemas. What a shame.
A while back I wanted to see that crazy Sci-fi film "Iron Sky" and its not showing here.  :( WTF?
I gave the guys some ideas when the film was being written down on the internet for a few years.
Its one of those wacky fun sci-fi movies, nothing serious. Unless you consider Nazis living on the moon and
invading Earth in flying saucers serious. LMAO!  :D
I also enjoy seeing a crazy B-style movie every-now and then.  ;D `cause its fun.
Now I will have to buy the DVD. Although I have seen it on-line already, but its not the same fun as seeing it
on the big-screen in a cinema.
Nothing can beat a good time at the movies, so go see it.

Ok, let me start by saying "ITS SHIIIITE!!"
Watched it last night, should have known when George Lucas's name came up on the screen, immediate thoughts of a new star wars saga..! how right I was.
It truly is pants. from an entertainment perspective from someone that has absolutely no knowledge of anything to do with flying, WW2, and basic science principles this is the movie for you. Plenty of Hollywood claptrap, bullsh*t and terrible acting.
Its such a shame as this could have been a great remake of the original `Tuskegee airmen' film with Laurence Fishburne et al but no it wasn't.
So if anyone was thinking of spending their hard earned DONT BOTHER..

A disgruntled war movie buff!

just for the records: this is the FIFTH thread now dealing with this film.  :o
And I don't think that this very poor movie deserves so much attention.  ;D
Going to merge them all into only ONE single topic.   :-X

Darn! I LIKED "Red Tails". Sure, it's fake: histoical-reality-wise, and aerodynamics-wise, but I liked it. It reminded me of the kind of TV episodes and films I saw about war and adventure back in the mid-1950's, when I was little. I think Speilberg had that sort of thing in mind when he made the film. It's not all that profound, It's just a "stories for boys"-type of action movie, using arial World-War-Two elements instead of cowboy-western, science-fiction, or "secret agent" motifs- and all the heros are black. I loved the special effects, and all those big, shiny Mustangs and P-40's. I thought the acting was just fine, but the "story" didn't have all that much dramatic tension for the performers to really work out on, anyway. I just enjoyed the ride, and the visuals. It was just like playing dogfights with toy airplanes when I was eight or nine years old- nothing serious!

When i first saw the previews and trailers for it i was like ".......... Holy shit........ Faith in humanity restored..... " then i watched it and thought that the first blazing angels on the origional xbox had better graphics... Stealth came out in 2005 and it was way more pleasing to the eye and to the ear too... Lets face it, if you cant hear a merlin engine at high revs with bullet holes in the windscreen, but the .50 cals bark just fine, its just not enjoyable anymore.

One thing i found worrying was that when they went into the head on attack against eachover, the bad guy took a few 50 cal hits and died (what would happen in real life) but then the good guy took 4+ hits with the 30mm cannon through the windscreen and into his body and it took him over half a min to die and the bullet holes looked like 7.62 to 5.56 not half his body hanging of!

The best thing about that movie was seeing the Redtail Mustangs on film in action.. but the bad parts of the film were so bad that it took a lot away for me.. I was extremely disappointed in how that film turned out.. and you know I was comping at the bit.. Artistically HBO did a better job with the original film with Fishburne. That film could have been good with a better script... and just think... that one was the rewrite..

I.m not much of a movie guy, last one I saw was the 5th starwars, (what was that 12 years ago and I thought the CGI was way too fast), but I did enjoy this movie. My only gripes were the forming up, looks way too fake, and why lightning did not tell his Co to pull up in the last head to head with 262. If he had have pulled up, lightening would have had a nice belly shot, with no chance of getting those 30mm in the face.

but like I said, I'm not much of a movie watcher.

Tora, Tora, Tora = good but Red tails is a bad movie on par with the remake Red Baron and slightly better than Pearl Harbour and that is so bad. "Red Tails". could have been so much more, a pity corny dialogue, situations, type casting, CGI aerodynamics ..
thoughts of a new star wars saga..! from someone that has absolutely no knowledge of anything to do with flying, WW2, and basic science principles. Plenty of Hollywood claptrap, bullsh*t and terrible acting.

As for Red Tails - Speilberg it's George Lucas - Star Wars again!  ??? ;D
