I honestly can't wait to be able to share it with you all.
I'm keeping one eye on the postie who will be delivering Bruce Gamble's latest book, Target Rabaul any day now.  In the meantime I'm working my way through Lex McAulay's most excellent Into the Dragon's Jaws, 5th AF over Rabaul.  A real treetop-level account of the campaign.  Only 7.99 on kindle (a kidney if you want the printed version) but highly recommended if you like to learn a bit more of the area you'll be flying over.

Bee, just finished Bruce Gamble's "Fortress Rabaul" last week and am looking forward to his latest (though I'm not really sure why he's released his trilogy in this 2-3-1 fashion).  Now I just want to fly those missions!  Looking so forward to this map.

Hi c87,   I enjoyed Fortress Rabaul too.  Sometimes he drifted off the subject quite a bit, and there were large parts that felt more like a potted history of the entire pacific conflict, rather than the history concerning Rabaul itself.  The third book should be very good though, as it deals with the most interesting period when the garrisons sphere of influence had shrunk back considerably.
I think the book about Lark Force was the first one in the trilogy.  I wasn't aware there was another planned after TR.  Must keep an eye out for that.

Bee, I guessed I was confused. Apparently 'Invasion Rabaul...' is a new re-titled release of the first book 'Lark Force'. I wasn't aware that it had been released under a different name previously. Guess I'll have to pick it up now and read it before I read the last/newest book in the series.

Bee,

As a mission builder, I have a question about the curving roads you posted about earlier. Have you tested AI vehicles on these roads? Will they actually follow these roads from Point A to Point B over a long distance, as they do with the stock 'angular' roads? My guess is they won't, as they do not seem to be programmed to follow a curved path.

Hi Aviar, I did a check earlier today and the curving roads don't allow you to set a vehicle waypoint like you're pulling a zipper, the way the zigzag roads do.  It's necessary to place the points by hand.  I tried it out though and the vehicles follow the curves nicely.  Takes longer of course, but the payoff is pretty huge  :)

@ Hoss, Release isn't too far off.  What I really need is an experienced co-conspirator to set up the airfield waypoints.  Boomer was going to have a crack at it, but he got koshed by real life unfortunately.

curving roads

I love this winded roads, its worth the effort to put the waypoints by hand.  :)

here is another example of such a road, find it in Blumax Pac8Island map here:

My pet hate on All Maps, mile upon mile of stupid looking straight roads where none could, should, or would, exist.

Let's here it for the bendy road map makers - you get my vote.
